Just got car dyno'd with P1SC. I have BBK full length headers, stock h-pipe and 2 chamber flowmasters. Question is, I need to upgrade my stock h-pipe for a BBK aftermarket mid pipe. Will an x-pipe or h-pipe give me more gains and should I get one with hi flow cats or no cats if emissions is not an issue? Also, would I need to get chip reburned if I opt for no cats and is it going to be too loud with no cats. Thanks.

an xpipe will yield a few more ponies, but go with whatever YOU think sounds better.

X pipe will give you a few more HP, like others have said. (BTW, how do you have the stock h pipe and long tubes?)

For your flowmasters I would go with an H pipe or prochamber. I'm not a big fan of the sound of an x pipe with flows.

    Have a look here.

In this article, on an emission controlled vehicle, a X pipe made only 3 hp and 3 ft lbs of torque more than an H-Pipe and that was at 5400 rpm. There were no gains below 5400 rpm. In fact, the H-Pipe made 1 or 2 hp more than the X until you got to 5400 rpm, at which point the X made a meager few hp more. In my view, an H is better than an X on an emissions controlled vehicle.

On a non-emissions controlled vehicle, however, the X-pipe made more hp than the H at every RPM level over 2200 rpm. I recently installed an X-pipe on my car, which was previously just a straight dual exhaust. I was really surprised at the difference before and after. In your case, you could pick up some ponies by installing an X. I know I sure did.

I would run the dr. gas. I have read about the guys over at MPH picking up quite a bit of power on boosted car.

I mean 10hp+ sometimes 20 but that was at high hp levels.

they swear than the location of the crossover does not make the flows sound raspy. I am sure you can find some sound clips. the numbers I saw would make it a no brainer for me.

ohh and no kitty's IMO. then again I eat felonies for breakfeast. I put mustard on them and I eat them.

I have stock headers with BBK o/r H and flows they sound real good but very loud one of the loudest setups i have heard. It almost makes the car meaner than it really is for a NPI car.

But I really like the BBk H and Flow setup I wouldnt change mine at all.

The exhaust was on the car when I bought it. They guy said it was a BBK h-pipe. The h-pipe has cats on them now and when I got the car dyno'd, the tuner said it looked like stockers. I have an 8 pound pulley on the charger and the boost guage was showing just shy of 11 pounds and he said it was because of the h-pipe with cats and if I put on a mac or prochamber I should pick up around 15 HP. I'm pretty sure it's an aftermarket H-pipe, is there any way to find out by the pipe. i.e. markings, etc?

well if you are going to gain any power depends on if the car has the stock pipe already. you could take a pic and post it up here. we will be able to tell you if it is stock or aftermarket.

also the stock midpipe has 4 cat converters, the aftermarket ones have only 2. so go take a look.

You most likely I am 100 percent sure already have an aftermarket pipe with highflow cats...cause you cant be runing long tubes with the stock h-pipe

    Yup :nice:

If you want pick up a Dr Gas x pipe for long tubes, or a vrs off road x pipe for long tubes. You should notice a good increase in sound, but maybe not as much in the power dept, especially if you're already running an aftermarket pipe.
