Just got a couplel questions about the 99 and newer stangs. I know that in 96 they changed some things with the GT's so they had to put a t45 behind it, which is abit longer tranny. Do the 96 and newer stangs especially the 99 and newers have the t45 or do they have the t5, cuz I'm thinking little bro (98CobraClone) has a t5, but i'm sure somebody knows exact specs. And the other question, since I'm sure someone has either had the motor out at one time or has a set of motor mounts laying around. what do the motor mounts look like (do they resemble the v8 mounts or are they a single mount) Pictures and dimensions would be helpful if anyone has those. Here's the reason for the questions. I've got an extra Mustang II laying around, I could either drop a mild 302 in it or, I could scavenge the boneyard for a 99+ v6 5spd with low miles. and have II things no one else has. Just take consideration for this formula a Mustang II weighs somewhere close to 2000 with a v8, drop a lighter v6 in it with comparable power to the stock v8, and I'd have a car that no one else has with a pretty peppy v6 with options like superchargers, nitrous and possibly room for headers, which you really don't have when you drop a v8 in a II anyway.
the 96+ and 99+ v6 stangs still use the T5 transmission. the 99+ GT's use a tremec 3650 ------------------------------- A t5 from a v6 will work with a 302 with some modifications. but it will not simply bolt right up. bell housing is different, and a few other things. I cannot remember.
