So the other night my friend and i meet up at my bank before we went out to eat some wings. He has a 98 mustang with HCI and dumps. So i go in to my bank pull out some money and start heading back to my car. He's like “ i feel like doing a burn out” i respond “I wouldn't do one here”. I get back in my car and start driving to the road and i hear him light up his tires i look back and hes power sliding around this turn and cuts in front of me. Im thinking “what ever im hungry lets get some wings” we pull out heading towards the light which is 100 feet away and we're taking a left on. I slow down due to the ****ty roads and try to dodge a pot hole. I guess my turn signal turned off at this point. I start taking the turn and lights come on behind me. So i pull in to another parking lot. The cop comes up says “ do you know why im pulling you over”
me “to be honest i don't”
cop “ i saw what you did in the parking lot and you didn't have use your turn signal”
me “ hmm there was another mustang in front of me that did the burn out”
cop “ yea and he had the exact same exhaust to and sounded the same”
me “ no he has a 98 gt”
cop nodes ands says “ what ever. Can i get your licenses insurance and registration”
i grab it for him and he goes back to his car.
Few minutes later he comes back and hands me a ticket “ I'm giving you a warning on the actions in the parking lot but heres a ticket for failure to signal.”
me “ you know i don't want to sound like a jack ass or anything but if you look at my tires i have a tread mark going down the very center and if i do a burn out like i do at the track it leaves 2 marks per tire. If you go back to the other parking lot and look at the tire marks you can see that its a solid patch of tire like my friends mustang that was in front of me... if you want i will go back there with you so i can show you where it happened.
He says thats ok and walks back to his car

Basically my friend got me a ticket .Its the worst feeling for getting screwed over by your best friend for something you don't deserve. I'm going to try and take it to court and take pictures of the pot hole in the road and stuff. By the way this is my first ticket and I'm 19, I paid for my own car, insurance and cell phone. I'm saving up for HCI now.

Has anyone else had anything like this?

That really sux bro. I'd stick to your guns in court. Don't throw you're friend under the bus (even though he did that to you) .... there are ways around it. Just show them the pics of your tires, the marks, the pot hole, etc. And tell your friend that he owe's you one. You should make him pay the ticket, too.

Around here if you have your license for 3 years you can use that to wipe the ticket... have you had your license that long yet?

I'd fight that all the way. Be polite in court and explain that if you actually committed the offense you would have problems paying the ticket and such.

Where was your buddy when you got pulled over? I thought he was right in front of you? Did the cop not see him?

I got arrested and roughed up pretty good back in the mid-70's because an a$$hole detective confused my car with my buddy's-identical but his had a black vinyl top. My friend had been pulling hole shots and when the cops showed up he took off and outran them. A couple weeks later this d!ck pulls me over and I get hammered. The newspaper article was false but hilarious--I was going 70 mph in a parking lot, swerved out onto the road, ran 3 passing cars off the road, and supercop caught me before the stop sign at the end of the street. The charges were eventually dropped. Obviously, I would fight it.

I'm also 19. Been driving for 3 years. NO TICKETS! :D

Sorry to hear what happened bro. Nothing worse than getting blamed for something you didn't do. Good luck in court.

the other night i got 3 tickets (all non-moving violations)

    1-no front plate
    2-window tint
3-expired inspection. it expired 4 days before i got pulled over. i had to change the brakes before it would even pass inspection and it was the day after i changed brakes taking it for a little cruise to the mall.

i drive up to an intersection, signal to take a right. wait for the green and go. i take off like normal and see a cop on the side of the road maybe 50 yards or so past the intersection. as soon as he sees my car he starts pulling out. gets behind me and tehres the lights. i tried explaining to him about the inspection and stuff but he didnt wanna hear it, he was looking to give me every thing he could find wrong.

also when i was driving i had my windows down like i usually do on nice days :notnice: so he wouldnt have even known the windows were tinted

this was in my 2002 BTW

Yea you need to take the court case very serious. one of my freinds went in joking around and they sent him to jail for 5 days.

He was right infront of me. I honestly dont know how the cop didnt see him. Im having my freind that was driving that car and his passenger come to court also.

Dude, that sucks! Sounds like the cop just heard someone get on it and saw you first. Go to court on that one! Since you haven't been in traffic court any time before, the judge should give you a break.
I got caught doing a little "tire spinning" by a cop that was more than a block away at the time. I know that all he had on me was that he heard the car rev up and saw me going across an intersection. He had two other cops chase me down and hold me until he got done with the ticket he was writing to someone else. I got a "careless driving" ticket due to "excessive spinning of tires" ticket $209 ticket from this asswipe. I didn't even break the speed limit (35 mph) during this "careless driving". He just saw and heard a hopped-up Mustang and wanted to excercise his authortity. I went to court, payed a reduced fine (court costs), $159, and got the ticket deferred for 6 months (no more tickets in six months and it won't go on my record), so my insurance won't go up.
Hopefully, the judge will take it easy on you. Just be respectful to him/her and they should take it easy on you. One ticket on your record should not hurt your insurance, but I don't know how they look at it due to your age (I'm 39 and my deal happened about a year ago). Good luck and let us know how it goes!!
