I ran my '05, manual GT at LACR in Palmdale, CA today. If anyone is familiar with the track you know it's at about 3000 ft. altitude and the weather was not really good today...kind of hot and humid. My car has about 4000 miles on it and is bone stock. I haven't even changed the oil yet.

Anyway it sounds like I'm making excuses already, and at first I thought I might need to since this was my first time there and the car felt slow. My best run ended up being a 14.03 at 98.3. That was without powershifting or really killing it out of the hole. I need to use the car and I dn't really know anyone to fix it if I break it (dealers can't fix anything right).

I'm told that time easily corrects to a 13.5 or 13.6 at 102-103 mph. I really don't know, but I do know there was an '03 Lightning there running 14.5 at 94 and a later RX-7 that ran beside me. He went 14.2 at 95. In comparison my own Lightning runs 13.6 at 100 at my local track in NJ (I'm back and forth between L.A. and NJ all the time).

So here is the actual breakdown of the ticket. I don't have a scanner so if you don't beleive me it's fine, but it's all true.

    Best Run:
    14:09 hours

60'-2.13 (smooth but soft launch like I said)
    I2-5.88
    I3-9.03 MPH-77.872
    et-14.031 MPH-98.202

    2nd Best Run:
    14:22 hours

60'-2.12 (I tried to be slightly more aggresive but save the clutch)
    I2-5.916
    I3-9.078 MPH-77.523
    et- 14.092 MPH-98.317

My worst run of the day was a 14.20 so the car was really consistant. I did nothing in between runs either...no intake icing, no tire pressure changes...nothing.

So overall, I'm fairly happy. Most people at the track were really impressed it was as fast it was.

At first glance at your time, Best Run:
14:09 hours, I thought wow, that is slow!!! lol
But anyway, It takes time getting use to your new Mustangs feel for the power. What RPM's did you shift at? Though it doesn't affect your ET, what were your reaction times?

Yeah, I thought the times were pretty bad too at first because I didn't realize the correctiion factor would be THAT much.

I shifted at redline each time, used all of 3 gears. Like I said earlier, I shifted quickly, but no powershifting. I've been drag racing for years and know how easy it is to be sitting along side of the track with no ride home.

    Reaction times were:
    .202
.082 (along side RX7, great to burn the ricer.)
    -.016 (got a little jumpy)
    .195
    .229 (fast asleep)

This is not a criticism, just a question. 4000 miles and you haven't done your first oil change yet? Isn't the first one supposed to be at 1000 miles?

Sounds to me like you should be happy with those results as those other 3 guys faired worse than you. :owned:

Yes, I'm sure I should change it soon. I figured at 5000 miles I would. I drove the car cross country last week and that's where the miles came from, so it's all highway miles if it matters. Anyway, I'll only keep it until the new Cobra is out.
