I was going to replace my rear coil springs with just a stock replacement because the ones in there right now decided to snap on me. Well today i went to go replace them, starting with removing the lower control arm bolt to drop the control arm. well it seems that the bolt has seized itself into the arm and it will not come out. what would you guys do in this situation? is there any other way of replacing the springs without lowering the arm?
Put the rear of the car on jack stands, use floor jack to raise one side of axle. You may have to take the shocks loose, the spring should just about fall out of the car. Jim
Yup, if not already obvious, also take off the sway bar, unbolt the shocks from the rear, and unbolt the quads from the rear. The springs will fall out and you won't have to mess with control arm bolts.
ok i was hoping there was an alternative to doing this. i really didnt feel like trying to cut those bolts out. if i remove the shock and the quad, will it give me enough room to squeeze the new spring up in there?
