Rear LCA install question, stock hardware

    i just got J&M lower ocntrol arms from santa, love that jolly old fat guy, question, the instructions say to use new hardware from ford, its apparently a one time use thing, is this nesecary? when i did my spring install i reused stock hardware with no problem, should i go to teh dealer and get new nuts and bolts or can i reuse these?

    i wrote the instructions. yes, the proper method is to replace the hardware. for liability purposes you should replace any torque to yield fasteners. with that said, i reused mine but will replace them the next time i remove them. take it for what it is worth.

    thanks bigcat, i figured you could reuse em since i did when i installed my springs and no porblems a year and a half later, besides i have bmr relocation brackets and they are getting stalled at the same time, cant wait to lose the hop!

    eventually i may just redo all teh suspension hardware that i have removed but for now i feel safe enough i guess, the only reason i ask is becuase i figure its a safety issue being suspension parts

    one quick question, my control arms dont have grease fittings included nor do the arms themselves have a hole for em, is this an update to the parts? no need for the grease fitting?

    J&M discontinued the grease fittings. they claim the supplied lube is great stuff, and the fitting is not needed. my personal opinion is it should still be re-lubed in the future, with or without the fittings. you could always drill new holes and install your own fittings if you really thought it was necessary.

    works for me, lol. actually i must confess, i installed my bmr adj panhard when i did teh springs, and never greased the bushings(bad i know) but as of today no squeaks and the bushings still look intact, so i keep my fingers crossed or if i have extra lube, just take it off and grease that as well

    since you will be there anyway, why dont you order an extra tube of grease and lube the panhard bushings. i looked a while back, and amazon.com had the cheapest price, but may have changed since.

    You can buy that greese anywhere, you just have to make sure you use silicon based greese, not petroleum, because it eats up polyurethane.

    They do say to not reuse torque to yield bolts/nuts, but in my opinion, it is find to reuse them once or twice, especially a bolt like that that doesn't experience a significant amound of streatch anyway (they aren't very tight, like 100-120 ft-pds I think, but if you take them apart more than a couple times then I'd replace them. Just every once and a while, maybe every other oil change, go around and check that everything is tight.
