hello my rearend has been making a humming noise for a long time now but only ever now and then. and since my wife swamped the car into the creek about 2 weeks or so ago, it has gotten worse i think and i didn't get to draining the rearend after that since i need a pinion seal replaces and i have no money. you know how it is. anyways it is a totally stock 7.5 down to whatever gear ratio stock is. when it does go out which i think it will soon, can i just go get a junkyard 8.8 and bolt it in without touching the stock driveshaft and brake lines. i have a 95 t5 v6.

Yea pretty much. I am not 100% on the driveshaft...i did that. But it may not work in all instances...

I swapped out my 7.5 for an 8.8... I also upgraded my DS at the time but I didn't have to.
