I have BFG KDW 245/45/17. Because this is a shorter tire your wheel gap will increase. You could do a conservative drop of 1.2 to 1.5" but you will still have a gap. If I had to do it again I would choose 255/50/17, which I had on their before or even 245/50/17.
That's exactly what I was afraid of. The gap getting bigger, making the wheel and tire look smaller. are those BFG's drag radials? I'm going to the track this weekend.
There is an advantage of using shorter tire such as 245/45/17. Your gears will be lower. I have 4.10s but I am running the equivalent of 4.23s.( I know! No such gears)
Finding 255/50/17s are about impossible....in terms of a regular street tire. In fact, anything with a XXX/50/17 is hard to find. I would like 4 tires, 255/50/17 that don't look gay, and are not drag radials. Can anyone recommend a brand/model?
Here are your choices from Discount tire. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/searchTiresBySize.do?r=CASINT&cs=255&ar=50&rd=17
Ok..sooo..... Two SUV tires....Two All-Season tires...and one summer tire. SWEEEET! I think I need to move up to 18s. Then I could get 255s or 275s. My biggest beef....is the beef of the bigger wheels. I'm all about less rotating unsprung weight. I'd like to get something forged that LOOKS great, but doesn't cost an arm/leg.
IM getting these put on tommorrow in 255/ 50/ 17.Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts. Nitto Invo's And these Rims http://www.kaltire.com/retail/custom_wheels/product_dtls.php?id=118&type=&brand=Core Racing Wheels
