You need to check and find out which wire is hot from the fuse box with the ignition on (for the backup lights), and which one runs to the back up lights. Hook the hot wire to one side of the reverse light switch on the T5; hook the one that runs to the reverse lights to the other side of the switch. Whenever you put it in reverse, the switch will close and send power to the back up lights.

thanks mike. this is what i thought worked (my neighbor did it and it worked on another car). the AOD hanress has four wires :white/pink lightblue/red orange/darkpurple black/dark purple the 5 speed hanress has 2 wires:black/darkpurple orange/darkpurple

can i just splice the 2 common wires?

one more thing: the spedometer cable, where it goes into the tranny (t-5Z) doesnt have that black plastic part for the sensor, but i saves mine from the AOD can i use it? thanks alot guys

THere is acually a connector from for at connects into the AOD then onto the T5, i used a website from WestCoast Stangs i think or something like that for my T5 swap, and it even listed the part # from ford....search around for the Site...

But i never hooked mine up...:)

Can help you with wire colors as soon as you drop it into a Volvo.... :) I'd just use some jumpers and a test light to find the right wires.

Mine also doesn't have a VSS - so unless someone else answers, it's trial and error on whether the VSS bits from the AOD will work on the T5. I'd be surprised if they won't.

The speed sensor (the black plastic thingy) from your AOD will work in the T5, I used mine when I swaped. One thing to check is the speedometer gear, the AOD gear is probably not going to be the right one for your T5 and that will throw your speedometer off.

As far as the back-up lights go, do just like Mike said, jumper cables and a test light. All you need is to find an ignition on power source, run it to one side or the other of the switch (shouldn't matter) and then from the other side to the taillights.

I just connected the common wires, and it worked fine. You'll know it worked if your reverse lights come on :D
