Anyone know the easiest way to run the power wire from the battery to the trunk for an amp? Besides paying someone to do it.
Just did this a few days ago, ran wire (2 gauge) along the passenger side floor, under the scuff plates and kick panels, under the rear seat and into the trunk. The tricky part is at the fire wall, there is a large grommet with a haness feeding through it, plenty of room to add wires but finding them on the other side of the firewall near the battery is a biach. I would pull the battery and tray if I had it to do over. Make sure you fuse the wire near the battery so your pony stays minty fresh and smoke free.
I ran mine under the center console and rear seats. The extra cabling is rolled under the seat as well. The RCA leads, remote power and main power all ran the same way.
Running the wire once its inside the car seems easy. Its bringing it through the fire wall that’s gonna be a pain. Kerrdogg, I will have to see if I can find the large grommet with a harness feeding you are talking about. Thanks nbk13nw , Do you get any interference noise since you ran your power line right next to your RCAs? Thanks again, I’m off to buy my toys…
Nope, no noise at all. Just be sure to buy some good cabling. You can expect to spend anywhere from $70 to $100 or more for good quality power, RCA's, remote leads and inline fusing. I picked up a Rocford Fosgate kit supposedly able to supply a 900 watt amp enough juice to run well.
