well im decieding on a spoiler for my 99 cobra...but cant seem to deciede on the s281 or the s351...anyone have any input? or pics as well? thanks guys -Jeff
I had a S281 on my 98 GT and it was the best looking wing for my body style IMO. I am going to get another one in fact (old one made love to a tree ) I say go with the 281.
Has the quality on the 281 spoilers increased in the last few months? I've read horror stories on this forum and others about what it takes (prep and paint wise) to get a 281 spoiler to look right. The last I heard was that Saleen was changing production methods to improve quality, but I havne't heard anything beyond that. Given that, I think that the 281 spoiler is a good lookin spoiler for the New Edge cars, but so is the 351. The 351 spoiler is a bit larger and more in your face, so it really depends on what you want from the look.
I would leave it stock. I like the look of the cobra spoilers. If I had to choose though I would go with the s281.
the s281's havent. ordered my first wing that arrived looking like worthless pitted, cracked and scuffed up garbage...so I complained to saleen about it for 2 months after sending it back and they finally sent me a new one. this 2nd one looks a lot better but is still gonna end up costing me around 500 for prep paint and install. you just really never know with the s281 wings...
FWIW, yeah my s281 was a biaatch to prep. I started it and ended up letting the place that painted it finish prepping. Looked good when finished though. The s351 looks good too for your body style IMO.
the 99 cobra wing is the same as the 99 gt. personally, I think the s351 looks like poo. the extra money in prep is worth it if you get the s281 . get whatever you think looks better.
they supposedly redid the molds a few months ago and i got one of the "new" molds and it still was a **** for the body shop to prep and put on
yea im jsut goin to go get the s351...i know a shop that will do it for me for like nothin but first things first i gotta get that damn vortech on. ha
saleen parts quality has been notoriously bad for as long as i can remember. i bought a new set of cpillars because my 'stock' ones are wavy and ****ty, my sideskirts are falling off, rear bumper is drooping on the left side, and well the only thing on the car holding up is the front bumper and spoiler. but i gotta ask, how can the 351 wing be of better quality than the 281 wing? theyre made from the same place?
