I have discovered a second fuel filter down by my fuel tank. Looks just like my other one but its bigger. Is this right? I have a 1976 Ghia. Do they come stock with a second fuel filter? I've never seen this before on any other vehicle i've owned. Any thoughts?

It is best to have two fuel filters particularly if you have an electric fuel pump. One goes before the pump to protect it from junk in the fuel tank. This one should be replaced most often and is the only filter on many cars. The other goes after the pump yielding additional protection for the carb/fuel injectors. It is possible for the fuel pump to fail and fill the line with trash. I've also seen rusted lines and deteriorating hoses contaminate the gas going into the engine. In my experience all carberated Mustangs came from the factory with just one filter before the carb.
