I decided to get the shaker 1000. I listened to both at the dealer and while the price is a little high I think, the fact that it's stock and sounded good (I'm not fanatical about sound) sold it. If you are on the fence about spending the money - you really need to listen to it before making your choice.

I got the S1000 because it was an option on the car and I didn't order the car; given a choice I would have saved my money and applied it towards an aftermarket system. Overall I'm not disappointed with it (other than the skipping problem) but you can get higher quality components & you can dynamat the panels while you're installing the system to improve sound quality and reduce road noise.

Ford still has problems with the Stereo system, (skipping or rejecting CD's) I'll take the 500 and hopefully will work good for you.

As a former stereo installer for al & eds autosound back in the day I can honestly say the 1000 is probably the BEST stock system I have heard in a car.Now for the extra $$ you can get yourself something better most likely, but for me I choose the 1000 because I don't want to be tearing into the car audio wise anymore and it is a very satisfying audio system IMO

The Shaker 500 was plenty enough for me, some people like the 1000 but I am happy with the 500. Just personal preference if you ask me, if you like it, get it.

The rear speakers are 5X7/6X8. the front is a three way setup. The large bottom speakers are 7" woofers mounted to the door panel that has a built in bass enclosure, the top location is an self contained enclosure with an 3" or 4" midrange with a tweeter that is mounted to an adapter bracket that in turn is fastened to the door. This adapter bracket looks like it would fit a 5X7 or 6X8 fullrange speaker if the mid and tweeter enclosure was removed. Mine said Mach 460 on it. There is is probably crossovers built into the factory amp system, so be careful when upgrading. The woofers are 1.3 ohms- 60X2 watts and the rears are 4ohm 25 watt.

I went with the 500... Plenty of sound for me... plus the trunk gets a lot smaller with the 1000.

I believe there is a TSB out there to fix the CD skipping rejecting problem.

I have the Shaker 1000. It was already on the car, and when I got it, it was the only silver GT in Chicago. Fully-loaded.

Dump Both The Skippers are made from a Jenson Knockoff in Mexico. Pure crap.
I ordered my 2005 GT with the Plain Radio in it then installed a Pioneer AVIC-D1 Nav system, Boston Accustic Speakers, and Alpine Amps and a 12 inch Scosche Sub from cruchfields that is made for the Mustang Trunk. And it rocks.

My Goal it to get an Automatic Trans GT into the mid to High 12's under 2 grand and with bolt on mods (non mechanic type mods). Can it be done?
