I am wondering about the Shaker 500 in the 2006 I am ordering. In all the stuff I've read about the new sound systems, I haven't seen any reference to tweeters. I have a 2000 GT now with the Mach 460 with the high mounted tweeters. I know some people trash the Mach but I love it and I can't imagine a high powered sound system without tweeters. What's the deal?

The Shaker systems have tweeters mounted with the door speakers as an integral unit. If you want to change the speaker, the tweeter must go. I replaced the speakers in my Mustang with some Pioneers, 3way in the rear and 4 way in the front and there was a vast improvement.

The speakers in the rear were the same speakers that came in my F150 with the basic CD player, cheap. I used the speakers with the tweeter from the Mustang in the F150, so I have four cheap speakers now collecting dust.

    Shaker System

So,unlike the Mach system, you can ad aftermarket upgraded speakers?

Yep, I removed the 4 stock speakers and replaced with the pioneers 6X8s, no problems.

For some reason I think the Mach 460 I had in my '01 GT sounds way better than the Shaker 500.
