hope this isn't a typical new guy question... i really like the shaker systems at americanmuscle.com, and i am considering purchasing one. i am not all about maximum performance; i want as much power as i can without touching the engine, and i am going for the old school muscle car look too:nice: well, any thoughts on this? also, any alternatives? thanks guys

Last year I put a shaker on my car. Powerwise it's not worth the money, you really won't get any power from one. But if you like the looks then it's worth it. I got my shaker from karkraft.com and got a hold of a 2003 Mach 1 hood, in the end it cost about 1200 bucks for everything. You can get a shaker from CDC for cheaper and it uses your stock hood, but you have to cute a hole into it.

    Good luck.

$800? :rlaugh: I'm sorry, but I would never even consider it if I did'nt own a Mach. That money can buy your Catback and midpipe. I'm not being a jerk because I own a Mach, it just seems like a waste to me.

It was worth the $40 that I spent on it. Actually after it was all said and done, with the hardware and plumbing that I ordered from CDC and the paint it was still only $200. I got it for a steal no doubt, but after the time that I have had it and all the compliments that I get from it, I would definetely pay the $800 for it. However the one thing that I had a problem with was that the plastic cover that sets on the hood flew off a week ago because one of the front pegs broke. BUT I called CDC and told them what had happened and they sent me a new one. I would go through CDC directly and ask for Anne, she is very nice and the customer service is tops.

    CDC

Either one is worth it IMO as long as you aren't expecting performance

Shaker is a serious mod. It costs a lot and must be done perfect to look right. You could buy a lot of cool stuff with all that money like new tires, brake pads, fluids, etc.

Oh forgot to add, with either CDC or KarKraft there are blower setups that will adapt and utilize the shaker as the air box.

Also on both at least my Accufab Plenum fits fine.

I have the C&L power pipe and the C&L Mach 1 CAI on the setup now.

With the CDC I had the pipe and just a drop in K&N. It was always super dirty where it fed from the shaker, so I know that the car was getting a good ammount of outside air. Which to me means that the shaker is a really expensive, but more effective/true CAI.

I've also got the Shaker system on my '01 GT 'vert. I would say in all, I've probably got $1500 invested in the modification (Mach 1 hood and Kar Kraft shaker kit). It is soley about looks, and not about performance. I love the way that it looks and the way it shakes.
