    I have a 65 Mustang.
Automatic, 289 with a new FMX transmission and I have the old school B&M Star Shifter.

While screwing with the shifter, I managed to shater the plastic covering around the shifter cable, so I decided to replace it. After having replced the cable, the shifter and transmission seem to be a bit out of sync. I went back and forth between the tranny, and the shifter over and over until everything seemed to agree. However, it seems I don't get a good solid shift into park, and the gears on the tranny P, R, N, D, 2, 1 don't line up up exactly with the shifter.

Additionally, when I was under the car, shifting the tranny w/ my hands, I couldn't get it to shift solidly into park. I could kind of get it to park, but it wouldn't get a good solid lock.

Anyone have ang tips on how I should go about getting the tranny to agree w/ the shifter, and to get a better shift into park?

    Thanks.
