Will this "SLP Loudmouth Exhaust Kit" (from www.mustangtuning.com) pass new jersey inspection?? I have aftermarket flow-through weld in exhaust on now, but it appears this SLP exhaust has no mufflers...or at least a SMALL cylinder for mufflers... Hey im fine with that, :D just wondering if this would still pass inspection/is legal. I have a midpipe, Mac H-pipe with cats on my car now, and they passed jersey inspection. I am looking into buying this kit this summer, and need it to pass New Jersey inspection next year or two. :notnice:

Also, i've seen this same kit for my 1998 GT for $300...anyone know where to get it for that price? I can't remember.

nah i have the loudmouths on my 02 GT, i passed just fine... they ARE mufflers, and they are a lot bigger in person than they are in the pictures (sorta). they are basically straight up cherrybombs though. the only reason why i would think you wouldnt pass inspection is because you wouldnt have catyletic converters on.... so long as you leave your cats on, and there are SOME kind of mufflers, there is no reason why you shouldnt pass.

oh yeah and let me add, the sound is fcking awesome. about as loud inside the car as flowmasters, but WAY louder outside, with no droning and way more crackling, popping, and an evil sadistic sounding bark on throttle. i LOVE those catbacks. best decision i ever made. infact i just bought SLPs offroad X pipe to compliment it too.

i was never a big fan of magnaflow, i thought they sounded to weak for the money spent.... in my opinion if you're going to spend 400-800 bucks for an exhaust system, i'd want the loudest most brutal sounding one avaibile with the best flow. why spend money for a weak sound? doesnt make sense to me. anyway. i havent heard the magnapacks, but im sure they cant be any worse than the original magnaflow mufflers. all i can say is you probably cant go wrong with loudmouths.

oh yeah not to mention SLP's stuff is stainless, unlike blowmasters. i cant justify spending money on somethin thats going to rust out... its almost like 'downgrading' your exhaust system, and spending money to do it.

My friend has Magnaflow Magnapacks on hiw 02GT...dude, i can hear him from 3 towns away when he goes WOT...NO KIDDING.
I personally HATE Flowmaster...i think their products are $#!t and they try to screw over their customers (with that "delta 40 crap") but that is another post... Guess i'll go with the SLPs. Thanks man :nice:

lol yeah flowmasters are garbage, "delta 40s" that come with their american thunder system, what a joke.

anyway, i bought my system direct from SLP www.slponline.com

but dude, listen to this, SLP also has an X pipe that comes in three peices, so you can switch ON or OFF the highflow cats with no problem (switch the cats out with race pipes that SLP offers) or put the cats back on right before inspection so you pass without any problems. also finally, the 3 peice design lets you upgrade to SLPs really nice long tube headers without needing to buy a new X pipe. not to mention the X pipe is stainless aswell. amazing. i am a huge SLP fan now. A+

i just bought the full assembly catted X pipe, the MIL elminators and the race pipes. bout 650 dollars total including shipping. they havent got here yet, but man... i cant imagine how incredible this is going to sound... offroad X pipes and barely any mufflers. wahooo!

Just so you guys know, the slp loudmouth exhuast aren't mufflers, they are resonators (pretty much the same thing though). The guy at slp that showed me their car told me this last summer(it also says resonators on their website), but don't worry as long as u have cats you will pass inspection.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but what evidence are you going by that "Delta 40's are crap." I've had those mufflers for 2 years now, no rust, and still a smooth sound matched with my catted X. And don't say flows are "Super restrictive." look at dyno numbers and its already been proven that between each muffler you don't get much extra power.

i've seen Magnaflow magnapacks give the most hp gains..as well as the loudest sound. But anyway... As for the flowmaster topic: There is a post on here and the Corral i believe that talks about them (flowmaster) taking a previous muffler and just renaming it to the "Delta 40's" with an increased price, claiming they gain more horsepower. Flowmaster admitted to this... hence they are a bad company. I won't ever be buying from them. But as you said, everyone has their own opinions.

i say they are crap because (this is all my opinion),
they have a crummy non-aggressive sound (compared to competitors)
their sound is really descibred well as "tin can"
they vibrated bad even though i couldnt have dont a better install of them
the interior noise was unbareable and it droned horribly, and when it droned AND vibrated, it sounded like a fart canned 4 banger, i actually felt embrassed by the sound it made.
they ARE more restrictive than the compitition
they ARE less superior aluminized steel (vs stainless)
they were the same price as my SLPs - and in my opinion, a muffler that on throttle, just shot raw poop out of my tailpipes.

but that's all my opinion. i could be wrong.

i sense a rant coming on....

i agree totally. A lot of people have a major problem with SLP though. I am all for Ford as much as the next guy on here. I love ford. my first car was a stang. And i know SLP blew off ford while the Fbodies were still in production. Now that they tanked, SLP started making parts for mustang. Frankly, i dont see it so much as Chevy vs Ford vs Imports... I see it as domestic vs imports more, also known as Rice vs Nice (because the difference is so much more apparent from real muscle cars to turbo'd import FWD 4 bangers). If SLP makes good parts for good american cars, that's all that matters to me. just my rant.
