Right now it turns ok but definately growling when at idle so need to fix soon... so far car is all original and want to keep it that way otw would have been missing long time ago  our local shop quoted $255 WITH core for a repo  and we dont want to go down that road...

Sorry I don't have any info on a smog pump, but I was curious if your 1966 was built in San Jose/Milpitas with a DSO in California (I see your from NC). I was under the impression that only 1966 Mustangs built and delivered in California required a smog pump?

Have you tried the concours section at Vintage Mustang Forums? http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/fusionbb.php?

good catch! this is actually my dads daily driver that we bought and restored in CA where he lives... and yeah as far as we know, short of coding the vin (lazy), it was born/raised in CA. 1/21,000 A-code with bench seat. Thanks for the link the rabbit hole keeps getting deeper haha
