I tried to set my timing the other day because i had a major hesitation when stepping on the gas, i found that my timing was at 22* so i looked up what it was supposed to be at and the book said 10* so then i went to change it and brought it down to around 12* and the engine would start to shake like mad then die. so after this i brought it up to 26* so it says and the hesitation is mostly gone but now it isnt running right. but a strange thing is that when i step on it the timing drops right down to about 9 or 10*. Why is it so high when I am at idle? Im really confused. this book that i got the timing * from also said that it should be @650RPM, my car wont even idle that low, it just wants to die. my idle is up around 950-1000RPM why would the book say its so low. Whats the matter with my car?

You need to disconnect the spout connector coming off the ignition module.
