I just got the SOS Triple Gauge Pods with the Raptor claw and I have to say that I am not overly impressed. I bought this because everything that I heard was that it was the best part out there for gauge pods. The pods are not evenly spaced and the unit did not come with the raptor claw. I am working with the shipper to get the claw issue resolved. I just thought that for $140 I would get a flawless piece. The two bottom pods are about 1/8 inch apart and the top one is 1/4 inch from the middle one. This does not sound like much but it is immediacy noticeable because the clearances are so close. I think that I will explore other mounting options. You would think that someone out there would create an OEM looking part that matches the interior grain and color. I was looking at the autometer center-gauge pod but have read bad things about the quality. Does anyone have any suggestions?
....but then you dont have a/c vents, idk bout you but down here in louisiana, a/c isn't an option its mandatory, lol
Gauge will not take up the whole vent. It is designed so that you still get a/c and heat around the gauges.
When mine were installed they did not remove the dash wires must feed down and through the fire wall. I was not looking over the techs shoulder but it did'nt take long at all.
For clarification, I am not trying to give anyone bad press and I apologize to SOS if it came across that way. The SOS pod was purchased through a third party that drop shipped it from SOS. The issue was handled directly through the third party and I never had contact directly with SOS because of the third party involvement. I was only posting what my initial experience was with this particular product. Initially, I was looking at center pods but nothing I seen out there matched the interior grain and color. I had heard that the SOS was the “cats pajamas” so I made the leap and bought one. When the product came in, I was disappointed that my expectations where not initially met (and I will admit that they are high) because of the alignment issues with the pods. It looks like SOS stands behind their product and is willing to make any issues right and that is service hard to find. In addition, from what I have seen, the SOS product does have a superior fit and finish when compared to other pillar pods out there. I clarified in my original post that the grain and color issues are with other products and not SOS. I was unable to deal with the spacing issues (visually) or I would have kept the product and this would have been a post about how I liked my new SOS pods. I will contact SOS and see what all the options are for getting a pillar pod. I will keep you all posted on what happens.
I have the SOS triple pillar pod with Raptor and recently added a pyrometer in the driver's left vent using a Roush vent pod. The fit and finish of the triple pod is the best I've seen out there although I have seen one on another car where the pod alignment wasn't perfect. Mine is. As far as the Roush vent pod goes, there is enough room between the gauge centering insert and the vent tube for the wires to pass so there's no cutting involved. It's a five minute job to get the gauge and wires etc installed in the vent. Of course it will take a bit more time to do the connections from there. I can say that in my coupe there is enough room for a fourth gauge pod on the pillar (at the top) and I would prefer to mount the pyro there. I contacted SOS via email enquiring about getting an extra pod and was disappointed when they didn't bother to email back. If I want to go that route, it looks like I'll have to buy a dual pillar pod for parts and fabricate my own quad pod. Sounds like a good winter project.
