I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a set of brake pads for the 13" brakes. Mine are about due for replacement. One import thing for me though is to get some that produce less brake dust, my current ones are ridiculous. I'll sacrifice a little performance just to avoid having to clean the damn wheels every time I drive it somewhere.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. :nice:

I'm running Alcons on my S-351. I switched to R4S pads and love them!!! Great for occasional open track events and minimal brake dust on the street.

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but is there a difference between the stock GT brakes and the regular brakes that came with the saleen (not 13 inch). I was looking at mine the other day and they look pretty wimpy compared to the huge discs/caliper on newer sports cars. BTW i have an 02 N/A. The brakes also dont feel anywhere near as strong/good as the brakes on my G35 Cpe.

Na No difference. They pretty much suck- I dont know about you but I really dont feel comfortable pushing the car at speed with those brakes! I'm saving for the 13" kit from Saleen.. there are cheaper options such as the Cobra R Brembo kit from buyfordracing.com or just the stock Cobra fronts.. but who wants cobra marked calipers on a Saleen? Unless of course its a Saleen Cobra :)

R4S are the way to go.. swapped them on an AMG car that we have an the difference in dust was amazing.. you know how those stock German brake pads are DUSTY.

Right, if your car did not come with one of the big brake options, then they are stock GT brakes. There are some good and economical 13” kits out there. I have the Brembo ’00 Cobra Rs on the S281. Saleen uses the same kit, private labeled of course, for one of their brake options.

Do you have the Infiniti Brembos on your coupe? I am thinking about getting Stoptechs front and rear form our sedan?

Thanks for the recommendation guys. Sounds like the R4S are exactly what I'm looking for.

Saleen Brembo's, like someone said earlier are just Brembo's with Saleen in yellow on a black caliper. You will notice a HUGE difference in braking when going from your stock 02 GT brakes to the 13". If you really want stopping power, see if you can find some Alcons. The Brembo's are a huge improvement, but the Alcon's have never faded on me yet. You will be suprised how late you will be able to brake with a good set up.
Here are the 13" Brembo's epoxy coated red on my 02.

    HEAD P-

I have a g35 cpe 5AT so it didnt come with the brembos, only the 6 speeds came with those. But still, the stock brakes on the G are just as good at grabbing and stopping as the brembos, but they just fade quicker.

I think i am going to have to save up for something a lot better for the saleen. Its hard to believe that saleen makes a sports car but then gets stingy on the brakes and wants to charge you for real brakes. WTF is ford thinking putting such crap brakes on mustangs. They have always done so, i remember on my old 1990 5.0, it never even had four wheel discs. they were still using drums in the rear, man that thing was a death trap with those brakes.

Can you still get the Brembo 4 piston calipers with the Saleen logo on them? I know the kit they sell now are Alcons.

    Dan,

Yes we can help you with that we have them available and in stock the part
    number is
FRP 302.630 R4-S $159.95 per axle set (4 pieces). If you should have any
question please feel free to contact us at 800-537-6842.

    Thank you for your interest,
    Wendy

    Dan

P.S. I have used Porterfield for several years on an old school, 66 GT350 Mustang race car and they are ......excellent. I just came back from Vegas , and I beat the heck out of a new set for a full day of road racing....and they appear to be new. If you ask, I'll explain how an old school racer wanna be like me had some fun with the current Eleanor GT500E!
