SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, Oregon had the original material for my 75 Silver Ghia, roof, seats, vinyl and cloth, and head liner. They are slow and a pain to work with via phone or mail. Never had a problem when I was a walk in but my last order by mail was a real fiasco. I did finally receive the correct material after a couple of heated telephone discussions.

Its like everything else...if enough people ask for something, someone will supply it. Make sure that Mustangs Unlimited gets an e-mail from you stating what you are looking for. It would be great if we could find the original supplier/manufacturer for the upholstery. If MU were to decide to no longer sell MII carpet, there are several manufacturers like Auto Custom Carpets (http://www.accmats.com/) that will be glad to to. I've been real disapointed that traditional Mustang restoration suppliers like Dashes Direct (http://www.dashesdirect.com/), TMI (http://www.tmiproducts.com/), and Scott Drake (http://www.scottdrake.net/) do not make upholstery and parts for the MII. While their lack of enthusiasm may be due to the usual anti-MII bias, they are business people and I believe that enough queries would get their attention. We gotta send these folks mail when we need something that is not currently produced for the MII, but is in production for the Classic Mustangs (and Fox Mustangs...). Any GOOD auto trim shop can hook you up, and my local guy was very competetive on price with the "kits"
How is the color match? My poor old driver's seat is so shredded, there's metal showing in some spots. But it's still comfortable as always.. haha I think it's about time I did something about its condition.
I recently had my driver's seat re-done (standard black vinyl). I had a seat upholstery kit that I was going to get the upholstery guy to install, but he talked me out of using it. Instead he recovered the seat using his own material. The quality was better than the pre-made kit and it matches the passenger seat perfectly.
Same here. When you look at all the custom upholstery work done on street rods, it becomes evident that it's just a matter of finding a place that has lots of materials and expertise. I think it's an overall better option, than to rely on patterns and materials from questionable sources. Think of carpets for example...some are much better than others in how they fit and match. A good upholsterer usually takes pride in his workmanship, and uses good materials to ensure similar results. He will cut material to fit, rather than try to make do with something someone else manufactured.
