spline count on '01 Cobra rear?

    Does anyone here know how many splines are on the rear axle stubs of a 2001 Cobra? Trying to buy locker, and need to know. Is it 28 or 31? Help!!! :)

    Wrong.

    31 spline.

    The 99 Cobra got the 28 spline, then the 01 got the 31 spline. In 03 Ford increased the diamater of the overall shaft making it even stronger, but it remained 31 spline.

    So you need the 31-spline diff.

    28 spline. At least that is what Paul of PHP told me. I hope he knows his stuff.

    SVTAddict is correct, '01 Cobras have 31 spline.

    I have always heard 28 spline. but if it is 31, then I dont understand why so many think the 99 and 2001 cobra are the same. I have a 99 and at least would like to think that, but I did not think they had 31 splines. Do you know if the 01 has a t45 as well or did those lucky bastards get a better tranny too?????? The 99 was so close to perfect, I think the 01 is the best naturally aspirated mustang ever!

    Only the 99 has 28 spline. 01 has 31. Which is why the raxles half-shafts only worked for the 99 cars and NOT the 01.

    Had the Cobra not came with 31spline axles, a good choice would've been the 31-spline locker with some new beefier 31 spline axles :D
