sputtering and cam shaft sensor code

    98 V6 is sputtering horribly and has a cam shaft sensor code and an ingnition problem code. checked the connection to the cam shaft sensor and the wires. it looked fine. car has over 100k miles. Do these sensors commonly go out? should I just replace it? or are there some voltage tests I should do on the wires first to make sure its not just a bad wire some where?

    deff swap the sensor and invest in a new ignition coil as well...should stop the problem
