Sub Question

Do you think 1 10" sub will hit hard in one of our trunks? and can anyone help me with this sub: Infinity @ CircuitCity.com Is it worth the money? What type of amp would work good with this? and how do i figure out how many watts a sub needs from an amp and how do i figure out which amp is rite for a sub? i never understood any of this, please help! THANKS!

The guy at circuit city said to try an MTX amp and nothing above 300 watts ior a bazzoka, but i heard the bazookas overheat...???

I am not expert but I do not think that that speaker is that good. The only place I can find that one for sale is circuit city. you might want to look into this one.

someone can probably help you better. Like for this sub you would need a 500rms amp.

Any subwoofer will be loud enough if and only if you give it enough power. If you are only planing on getting one sub, then get 1 10" or 1 12", look for something that can handle at least 500 watts rms. Dont look at peak power because thats all BS. I would go to www.crutchfield.com and look around, they have great information for starters. I wouldnt buy from them though because they are overpriced, I would buy from www.sounddomain.com because they have the best prices. As for the overheating, any amp will overheat if you dont mount it properly. My audiobahn amp used to overheat because I mounted it sideways. In fact I remounted it, and it overheated again yesterday, it was really hot here yesterday. Bottom line, dont worry about overheating because you can always buy a 12 volt fan for a computer and mount it so it blows on the amp. Thats what I just did last weekend because of my overheating problem and it solved the problem just fine. If you have any other questions, just ask.

as "myearshurt" says, never follow peak out put ratings,, only RMS ratings. that sub can handle up to 250 watts RMS, which is decent, as far as matching subs with amps try to get an amp that pumps out power in the upper third of the sub handling capabilities, in this case youll want around 200, however the closer you can get to 250 the better. since your running one sub your amp will see a 4 ohm resistence with that sub, good matchups are MTX Thunder421D , Alpine MRP-M350 or a Sony XM-D500X which should all be availbe from ccity. my personal preference for some nice bump is an alpine type R of JL w6 (or w7 if your that crazy) so anyway just try to match RMS power ratings and youll be set, dont forget since you want one sub youll have to find out what kind of power the amp puts out at a 4 ohm load as most speakers put out that kinda of impedence (ohm resistance)

yea ive got two audiobahn 10" subs coming tommorow 300RMS each, and a audiobahn amp that is rated at 800 X1 @ 2ohm so 400 RMS X2 @ 2ohm. Just get an amp that is rated higher than the subs and you wont have to worry about overheating PLUS it will sound better.

i did installs pro for a while... Chris is correct. The reason behind this is because the amp doesn't have to work as hard to push the subs, which means you can keep your gains turned down low.
