Hi guys! I have a fun, non-tech question I could use some help with. Since the last of the snow is melting in my yard and it's 60 degrees here today, I'm thinking I will finally get to take the boy out of the garage soon ...My car's radio has an ipod jack, and I need some suggestions for a summer convertible playlist--anything loud, fun, and/or car/summer-related that makes you want to sing along. So far I've only come up with Little Deuce Coupe-Beach Boys, Black on Black-Nickelback, Mustang Sally (obviously), Only The Good Die Young-Billy Joel, Summertime-Kenny Chesney...any thoughts out there?
You have to have "American Pie". Other favorites are the Hawaii Five-0 theme and Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone".
Here are a couple of must haves for me when I'm driving my 67 with the top down The Tiki Bar - John Hiat Undercover of the Night - The Stones City on Down - OAR Sweet Tea - Cravin' Melon Let Your Light Shine - Keb' Mo' Blue on Black - Kenny Wayne Sheppard Fat Bottom Girls - Queen New Shoes - Paolo Nutini Hard Sun - Eddie Vedder and anything by Big Head Todd As you can see by this list, my music is all over the place. My car has multiple personalities so my music follows the mood. It's spring time boys so go out and enjoys your rides. I know I will.

I've been compiling a list, I'll put it up shortly. Much of it is car & good rockers, older stuff mostly. 66MG - Have him out Sat? Cobrask8 was out!
Hey guys, GREAT suggestions! I think I'll go spend some quality time on iTunes now. And hi Dan, good to hear from you I took the boy out last week, and here's a little something I learned (about 25 years too late): My son goes to an all-boys school, and he lost his license a few months ago for speeding (doing 90 on the Mass Pike in daddy's new BMW ), so I've been having to pick him up from school every day. I was waiting out front for him last Friday when school let out and 500 teenage boys just about gave themselves a case of whiplash checking the car out when they walked past. Now why, all those many years ago when my friends and I were trying to figure out how to get boys to pay attention to us, did someone not tell us to forget the makeup/hairdo/clothes nonsense and buy a bad-ass car!
Wow, is this a subjective question, so many tastes and opinions of what good music is. I can honestly say that with CD, MP3/Ipod and good ole cassette at my disposal in pretty much all my cars I still tend to tune to my local Classic Rock station more often than anything, particularly top down in the stang. There is so much great old rock that I never get around to listening to new stuff, to me there is just nothing better than cruising along and being surprised by an old favorite and cranking it up. I love when something unexpected pops up like say Kodachrome for one example. That said, my default selections are usually things like this: Any of the following bands in no particular order, I have made compilation CD's of all their best hits: Aerosmith, Van Halen, Led Zepplin, Queen, Rolling Stones Beatles, etc... Particular CD's that I like to listen to from start to finish (very rare) and not included above already: Elvis - 30 #1 hits, Everclear - Songs from an American Movie, 70's Classic Rock Original Masters CD, Anything BNL.................others that escape me at the moment. Particular songs I always seem to crank up that have not been incuded already above anywhere: Edit, OK, that will take just too darn long and too many will be left out so I will have to rethink it and get back to you. The only things I can list for certain are songs from the 83' - 86' time frame when I was in high school, like say Summer of 69' for example, particulary good for my car. My tastes were much more varied back then and went from classic rock to funk and anything in between. I usually stick just to classic these days but I love stuff that reminds me of that time in my life like dare I say Beastie Boys for example. When I happen to come across them station surfing I just can't resist.
Okay, I'm gonna do it (at least a few)...... Diehard Eagles Fan here: "Life in the Fast Lane" - Don't listen to the words, just watch out for cops. "Already Gone" - If you wanna bark the tires on every gear change and/or straighten the curves on a canyon run; this one is a no-brainer. "Take it Easy" - Smooth cruizin' on an open road "Peaceful Easy Feelin' " - Dead end road, in the dark, wife/girlfriend, backseat. Yep, done that. Other artists: I can't remember who it was; but somebody did and "orchestrated rock & roll" version of Johnny Cash's "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Steppenwolf: "Born to Be Wild" isn't just for Harley riders. Doobs: "China Grove" lyrics dont work for driving, but the music does. AC/DC: I reall-lll-llly want to see a video of somebody's freshly resto-modded triple-black "survivor" FB banging around on some dark roads with "Back in Black" in accompaniment. Is that too much to ask? Gonzo? Oh crap, mentioning Gonzo reminded me..... The Nuge! "Cat Scratch Fever" - Waitaminute, that would be a song for Cougar owners, huh? Great way to head for a party, though. From one of the concert albums (EDIT: It was, in fact, "Double-Live Gonzo") ; Ted's "I know you didn't come here to get mellow..." monologue immediately followed by "Whang Dang...." (you know the rest isn't really family-friendly) would be an excellent way to pull out of a location. Or not. Depends how many "points" you already have on your license, I guess.
i'd be ALL OVER a female who owns and WORKS ON a classic car (herself). hairdo/makeup/clothes is a given! see, we're not all horndogs!

Some of my favorite car-oriented & driving tunes: ZZ Top - She loves my Automobile Deep Purple - Highway Star Commander Cody - Hot Rod Lincoln Lynyrd Skynyrd - Call me The breeze Outlaws - Freeborn Man Beach Boys - 409 (______) - Secret Agent Man Doors - Riders on the Storm Jet - Are you gonna be my girl Doors - the cars hiss past my window Neil Young - Down by the River Rolling Stones (Sympathy for the Devil (But it MUST be the live version from "Get your Ya-Ya's Out) 10 Years After - I'm Going Home I'll come up with more of my favorites.
Oh, yeah..... BTO: Takin' Care of Business (FOX Sports did a "puff video" of one of the Cup drivers a few years back. Action in the video was timed to the song.) Gotta say it: "FreeBird" by ??? For the 'necks out there (like me): Toby Keith's "Whiskey Girl" "Baby got a '69 Mustang... Four on the floor and you outta hear the pipes ring. I get behind the wheel and it's awaaaaaayy we go...."
