last week i ordered a ATI Procharger. they faxed me a form to fill out for the chip to be programmed. as of right now im using the plasmabooster. should i keep it on? i've heard of problems with these on a s/c cobra, is this true? do they need to know about when programming th echip? thanks
Take it off......the coil over plugs are good for well over 650RWHP. I was considering getting the Boost-A-Spark and the shop that did all my work/tuning said to save my money.
thanks for the reply but since i already have it, should i just leave it on? it really cant hurt, right?
As far as I know, it shouldn't hurt anything...but I really don't know. When playing around with stock blocks under boost, there's not much room for error. So personally, I would take it off just to be safe...at least until you know for sure. The most important thing related to ignition is timing and changing your plugs to colder one's with a smaller gap.
I'll have to check...I have a set sitting on the shelf in the garage. Can't remember the model number right now.....nothing fancy though.
The Boost-a-Spark is still a very good thing to have. Its not that they provide a hotter spark, they keep the dwell more consistant in those upper rpm's. Plus, blower cars are very prone to belt slippage, which in turn hurts the primary voltage getting to the coils The boost-a-spark gives you that constant 20V throughout the rpm range. It actually eliminated my blow-out problem. peace
