recently picked up a toy off of ebay. It's a '96 stang convertible with 4.6l v8. The SVT emblem is on the rear panel but the bumper says MUSTANG GT. Nowhere do I see anything thaat looks like it might have been a cobra Are there some SVT's that are not cobra's? Maybe someone just put the SVT emblem on it? Anyway, I'm new to the stang world can anyone 'splain?
Give a ring to this line: 1-800-FORDSVT, option 1. I just spoke to John and all you need to do is provide them the VIN.
Lol. ....... What wheels does it have? Does it have round foglights, cobra emblem on fenders, cobra heads & intake, speedo that goes to 160, cobra printed on steering wheel?
4.6L SOHC = GT (Check 8th digit of your VIN. If it's an X, it's a GT) 4.6L DOHC = Cobra (Check 8th digit of your VIN. If it's a V, it's a Cobra)
None of the above No, it doesn't have any of the cobra refinements at all, and the 8th digit is an X. The car's history shows a rear end collision back in '98, maybe they replaced that panel from a cobra that was in the scrap yard. Oh well, it really isn't that important to me. Not going to be a show car, it's a daily driver. My wife gets the purple '96. It looks real good sitting next to my white '94 5.0L vert. Thanx for ya'lls responses GeneB
