Hi all... I want to change the cam for my little setup (C9TE heads with 1.94/1.6 valves, ported + Cobra intake). How lift do you think I can get away with stock pistons (89 block)? I figure the stage 1 cam will be a good street/strip spec with the 69 heads. Anyone have a video of a 5.0 idling with this cam? Does it sound good? I love the lumpy idle but don't want to choose a cam that will destroy power just for the sound. thanks
Mine sounds awesome......I know there was a video on youtube of some guys LX with a TFS1 BTW- Mine is installed 4* advance for torque gains.
I have the FR "F" cam, but I have heard in person, and rode in an 87 ford ranger w/a 5.0 that had that cam. Pulls strong and the idle was lopey, but not enuff to cause any issues. I think you will like it very much.
The TFS1 has a nice little lope to it. I went with the TFS1 because I wanted the car to ride almost like stock, which it does of good job of doing. Now that I'm power hungry, I wish I would have gone with something a little more wild.
cool so this cam will also work with some twisted wedge heads, which is something I want to buy later on to replace the iron C9's...
yes..that cam comes in the TFS kits........you will like the cam ...I have a lot of compliments on it
+1, nice beginner cam, but it doesnt pull high enough IMO, lopes pretty good though, enough that all the **** in my car shakes. Heres a few vids. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9e861fa6-ef0b-4aee-a4ac-98fe0182d935.htm http://videos.streetfire.net/video/f6d96c6d-de37-4d23-ac8f-98d701349902.htm I have a really long incar vid too but its not up on streetfire. Ive also noticed ,when you retard the timing with this cam, back to around 10 degrees it has more of a rythmic lope that most people are used to.
heres mine with the stage 1 cam. Also have tf heads and cam http://videos.streetfire.net/video/67f254db-19a9-46a4-a955-99420163a48f.htm
Here is a video of mine. The 2.05" intake and 1.60" exhaust valves clear on the 88 block with 1.6 RRs.
