Over on Brad's site, a Ford GM posted this email he received yesterday from Ford. I swear, this process is getting more and more frustrating each day. I ordered in October, and still am "clean/unsch." It looks like anyone who's vehicle has not been built and who ordered IUP will be waiting a while. I think I may just wait for the vert... Thoughts?

    --

We have run into an significant issue with the availability of the Interior Upgrade Package.
As a result, there will be NO Mustangs, including Mustang GTs, scheduled for the remainder of January with the Interior Upgrade Package (18G).

    Key Points to Remember

The only way to order a GT during week 50 is with the Interior Sport Appearance Package (18R)!!
Dealers will need to place new orders for GTs with the ISAP (18R) or change their existing orders.
For week 1, dealers will be allowed to order GTs with or without the 18R package (but not the 18G).
A control on V6s will be put in place today to ensure that Deealers do not receive 100% V6s for January.
An OS Note will be sent later today with the control percentage by Region.

Required Field Actions - BY COB Thursday, December 16

For week 50, advise all dealers to either:
Remove the 18G package from unscheduled GT orders and add the 18R package OR place new Mustang GT orders with the 18R package
Remove the 18G package from unscheduled V6 orders OR place a new V6 order without the 18G package.
For week 01, advise all dealers to either:
Remove the 18G package from unscheduled GT orders and we would recommend that they add the 18R package.
We will schedule GTs with Base interiors. By preventing GTs with base interiors from being scheduled in week 50, we will ensure dealers have the opportunity to change their orders.
Place new Mustang GT orders without the 18G package. While we would encourage them to order the 18R package, it is not required.
Remove the 18G package from unscheduled V6 orders OR place a new V6 order without the 18G package.

    Field Operations Actions

Place the 18G Interior Upgrade package on hold for the remainder of January production. - beginning tonight
For week 50 only, we will COS out all GT without either the 18G or 18R (Interior Sport Appearance Package) to ensure dealers have the opportunity to add the 18G package, if they so desire.
For week 1, we will allow GTs to be scheduled without the 18G or 18R package.
A control will be placed on V6 for the remainder of January. This should prevent dealers from receiving 100% of their allocation as V6s. Regions will be responsible for monitoring this situation.
Scheduling will be held open until Wednesday, December 22, for week 50.

We apologize for the inconvenience this caused and appreciate your timely response to this matter. We expect availability to improve in February and will communicate more information about February, as it becomes available

aluminum steering wheel spokes and shifter trim. i think this sux. i ordered my car on nov. 13th and nothing. i am concerned that the impending lawsuit against ford for using the "my color" if its true will significantly delay the building of my car. And i really want the aluminum dash and accents, i don't care about the guages but its a packaged group. i will be reluctant to accept the car if it is not exactly what i ordered. However i am willing to wait if it is exaclty how i ordered it.

    Now that just plain SUX!

If it is the My color thing holding all this up, either ford needs to sick the lawyers on them and get that closed...or just buy them out!

If you can't get IUP does that mean you can't get side airbags? (since the two seem to be linked)

You'd have to believe that Ford wouldn't let this hold up production of such a highly sought after car. I never heard that the guy who patented the dash color system (MIT dude) got an injunction to stop production. Anyone know if he did? You'd think Ford would be at it day and night to settle this out of court. They'll lose more money and **** off more customers by letting this drag out. Especially those who got caught in the ordered already but not produced scenario, as described above. Man, this sux for you. I feel the pain. I never liked MIT anyway! :D

Key thing to note from the original post.

"scheduled for the remainder of January "

This leads me to believe that its a supply issue. If it were a legal issue then I would imagine it would be phrased "indefinately ". The way it is phrased leads you to assume that the hold does not go beyond January.

I believe that this is for dealer orders on unsold cars. Not sold cars on order. What this says is that if a dealer puts in an order for 05 Stang GT's for lot inventory, that they can't order that interior package till January. I think if you ordered your car and they're building it for you, it will still be available. I could be wrong but I think this only applies to dealer inventory ordering.

I'll see what he says... hopefully its not bad news, but it sure looks like it...

Hopefully he is direct and truthful... if I gotta wait I gotta wait... just hope he doesnt start shoveling the you know what.

My dealer called me yesterday and said it will be a longer wait due to the IUP supply issue.

I am hoping that is the case, but the dealer on Brad's site who posted this said it applies to all mustangs not yet built, even those which have been ordered. I ordered back in October, I am hoping I get it sometime in January... And the killer thing is the dealer I ordered from is getting my exact car in except that it has automatic transmission. I did have my heart set on a manual tranny, but perhaps I will reconsider now...

    order moved back....

I posted this on another thread here, but it bears repeating here. I called Ford today after reading some of the posts here. Last week they said my build date was going to be the week of 1/3. I called today and now it says the week of 1/17.

I have the IUP, and also spoiler delete.

I think Ford has sold more interior upgrades than projected. The order guide projects 40% IUP cars. Turned out to be 80% and this has caused a supply shortage of some part of the package.

Why the hell would Ford think they would not sell that much of these IUP packages? They are relatively inexpensive and DRASTICALLY improve the interior of this car.

I think it was determined that the guys patent had expired so Ford should be OK on that.

Some good news! Just spoke to my dealer. I placed my order on 11/26/04 – priority code 10. My dealer has a good allocation as well. My vehicle is equipped with IUP. I have received a VIN and am still scheduled for the week of 1/10/05. If I understand the original email correctly it states that no additional Mustangs will be scheduled for the remainder (remainder being the key word) of the month of January. I believe if you have already been scheduled you are still OK.

    GT Premium
Windveil Blue Clearcoat Metallic w/Dk Charcoal interior
    IUP
    Wheel Locking Kits
    Active Anti-Theft System
    5R55S 5-Speed Automatic Trans.
    Shaker 1000 Audio System
17" Bright Machined Cast Aluminum Wheels
