The best throttle body spacer is the EFI Nitrous Plate LOL. You should pick up about 134rwhp and 241rwtq for about $900. But as for the regular spacers, you won't see or feel gains. :-( Not a need for them on this car. If one works, then two would work better right? I've questioned them before, and bought one for my GTO and it does hold down a stack of papers pretty well. 'nough said! One cool thing you can ACTUALLY do with them on your car is get them custom engraved on the top to say whatever you want, and that can look pretty cool up there with your throttle body for when you are at a carshow, but it all depends on if you want a name plate.
But it DOES work as a paperweight. Those pages haven't fallen off the shelf since I put that thing on there.
Throttlebody spacer plate I have works great!!!! The one I have has a GT-500 throttlebody in front of it and FRPP CMCV delete plates underneath it.
Yep, don't waste your money. There are absolutely no gains to be had with a TB spacer. Not on these cars, or 90% of cars out there.
They work better on some applications than others. I believe they have shown some benifit on the 4.6 3 valve. Even if it's only 2 hp, thats 2 more than you had. They were much more benificial on carbed engines than efi, so any benifit for us will be small at best.
Correct. I have to add though the the point as usually is "best bang for the buck". 100 bucks for 2hp is not worth it. The way I see it, the system would be beneficial if you could somehow manage to stuff 8 individual spacers with blades etc. on the intake ports of each cylinder (perhaps where the CMCV ports are). That far up in the intake tract I doubt that a spacer's design would make a difference once you get to the combustion chamber.
By that logic, a lot of these exhaust systems aren't worth it either. Usually $ for $, a catback exhaust system provides the least hp/$
Performance wise I might agree with that statement, however most people here buy those to make their car sound like it means business. Just like window scoops / lovures / etc. They serve zero purpose other then making the owner happy with their car so I'd say that's a great bang for the buck if it achieves that. My Steedas are supposed to make you gain 8HP but honestly that's in the backburner when the soundtrack starts playing every time I hit the throttle Performance for performance no a TB spacer is a total waste of money, and it has no aesthetic value whatsoever. Just my 2c.
Precisely, that's why I only think it'w worth it if you want it just for the custom engraved logos you can have put on them. Then it's up to you.
Grassroots motorsports used to have a write up on their website of several mods they dyno'd for the Mustang 4.6l 3V. The intake spacer was dyno'd by itself, After installing an intake/tune. Up to 5000 rpm there was no detectable difference. At about 6250 it had added ~5 hp. If you have a Dyno queen sitting at 396 hp, this might get you the 4 hp to hit 400 hp. otherwise useless.
