    Hey all,

I've just about worn out the factory tires and want to install a new set of 275/40/17's all around.

I need a tire with some decent tread life around 30K miles, as I put nearly 25K miles per year on my car. Treadwear of 300.

But I also need performance. Traction AA, Temp A.

    Any suggestions???

Absolutely go with the Nitto X-Treme ZR I love em for traction and wear rating still at 300. But, for those lil friday night bouts get a pair of MIckey Thompson DR's for the rear

That's what I was wondering, I'll bet the manufacturer doesn't recommend it.
I think 245/45 or 255/45 is about as wide as they recommend for an 8" wheel.

I'll be going with a 255/45 for my next set.

Here some info strait from tirerack.com, I got these numbers by checking on several different brands on each size such as dunlop, goodyear, and khumo

    275/40/17 - 25.7" diameter. Recommended for at least a 9" width wheel.

    stock 235/55/17 - 27.1 - 27.3" diam.

    255/45/17 - 26.1 " diam.

    255/50/17 - 27.1" diam.

The 255/50/17 is a perfect match for diameter and fits the stock 17" x 8", that's the one I'm going with next.

I somehow managed to get over 27K miles from the factory tires.
Guess I'm just not driving hard enough.

For replacements, I decided to go with the Toyo Proxes T1-R 255/45/17's.

Not a bad tire. I can feel the difference in the way the car handles with the wider rubber.
But the tires still need to be broken in. :D

The tires do look great on the car.
Maybe just a little too much wheel well clearance?
I will ask my car club members their opionins.
