My 96 has 285/40 on the stock 17s all the way around and fills the wells nicely.
Still need spacers in the rear to fit flush with the lip, atleast 1" and prolly 1.5 would be best

Where are you finding a 275/50/17 and a 255/50/17?? That is going to throw off your speedo quite a bit if they make those tires. I don't even think a 255/b]50[/b]/17 would fit and turn up front without rubbing. Sure you didn't mean 275/40 and 255/40?

the tires i'm looking at are falken ziex s/tz-01 from discount tires direct and they are 275/50/17 and 255/50/17. from the info i've gotten so far i think the rears will fit without a problem my biggest concern is if the fronts will fit.

Bad idea personally. Your speedo will be all out of whack. I doubt that the fronts will fit, let alone allow you to turn fully w/o rubbing.

I can't even find a listing on Discount Tire for a Falken Ziex S/TZ-01 model tire. They have a Ziex ZE-512 and a ZE-912, but no S/TZ-01.

    Got a direct link?

if you go to the direct tire web site and hit search tire by size punch in 275/50/17 and it will come up.

okay i found it by searching on size, but why do you want a truck tire for your car? The sidewall on that tire will be huge.

Falken Tire created the Ziex S/TZ specifically for light trucks and SUVs. Not only does the tire feature the stylish tread pattern so you can achieve maximum look for your truck, but they've managed to create the tire with high load carrying capacities - ensuring your safety as well. Going beyond looks and safety, this tire is one you can count on for up to 50,000 miles. And those two wide circumferential grooves move the water out of the way quickly and efficiently, avoiding dangerous hydroplaning.

You're better off upgrading to a larger diameter rim and sticking with a low profile tire.
