By any chance has anyone had the time or road to top out their 2005 mustang Gt? I haven't had the time or road yet so any comments would be great...
i got it to 140 on the interstate at 3 am it felt like it would keep on going but the thought of a deer running across the road entered my mind so i slowed down to 75
i've pull 110 without even trying hard - but since it was the middle of the day in the middle of town i relaxed it pretty quickly!
I've only gotten mine to 100, and it felt like it was hardly working. Then, as if on cue..I got a speeding ticket. This was the day I bought the car. At least the cop cut me a break and wrote the ticket for 91 in a 70 mph zone, (200 bucks).
Yeah thats a pretty cool cop somewhere around 100 they stop writing tickets and start throwing on the cuffs, at least in CA they do. I had my GT up to 135 I shifted out of 4th at about 125 it was 3:00 in the morning and i was at a race track of course she had plenty more and felt very solid. I imagine she would have pulled hard all the way to the govenor i've read 147/149 MPH
I got mine up to 105 and it was solid as a rock. I heard about the problems with the hood and wanted to see. The hood never shook at all. The power was really good over 4K from 80 to 105. I imagine it should get up to top speed pretty quickly.
got mine to 125 playing with an rx8. was in 5th gear and passed the guy with ease. car felt real unstable though.
update, must have been more wind than I thought. had some idiot messing with me on the interstate getting up in front of me then slowing to 50 or 60. After the 3rd time of back and forth of this crap, I ran it up to 130. and it was very stable. Never saw that guy again.
Nice, that seems to happen alot to me when Im in the stang I think they just want to see you get on it.
I had mine up to 130 on the local Interstate racing a Ford Taurus SHO. We got side by side and both gunned it at about 70mph... after I pulled away about 500 ft from him and topped out at about 130mph while still in 4th, I came to my senses and slowed it back down to a respectable 80 ... Im still kinda pissed at myself after having it up to 130 for the first time that I didnt push it for at least 140 or more. It handled nice even when I was switching lanes at about 125.
On track w/ 2 '05 GT's My two sons and daughter-in-law and I did a Porsche Club of America driver education course this weekend at Beaverun Motorsports road course in PA. Fantastic!! The 2 Mustang GTs (1 an automatic/ 1 a manual) did great, very impressive. We were at close to racing speeds. Part of the track involved two 115 MPH straights followed by hard 30 MPH turns, and the brakes never gave up (a little smell, maybe at times), despite that fact we were into the ABS most of the time at the end of the straights. The power was good, very managable and the handling was really great, very neutral. No wrecks, no spins. Some outside tread wear on the P-Zero Nero's, and no doubt some pad wear (have to get those checked) but otherwise no worse for wear. The Stangs are for real!!!
