My cobra has about 113,xxx miles and gas mileage is killing me on it so I am thinkin about trading it in on a newer toyota tacoma v6 4wd. I know it is kinda a rare car but the used car market really sucks right now so I figured I would just try and trade it in instead of listing it for months and months on end. cheap 93 cobra, never been in an accident contact me.

how much you think a dealership would give me for it?

Eh, I dunno...they'll most likely low-ball you on the trade-in (afterall, it's their job to do that, right? :D ) - check out nada.com or kbb.com to get a ballpark figure. If you can manage for a couple more months, I bet you could find a buyer for it (private sale), as long as you list it for a reasonable price. Unless you need to get rid of the cobra ASAP, I would list it in the classified sections of the various mustang msg boards for a few weeks ...g'luck!

A Toyota dealer would be one of the absolute worst places to trade in a car like that. I know, I work at one. They're going to really low-ball you because they are, more than likely, just going to wholesale it to a broker for next to nothing since most dealers aren't going to try to retail a modified 20-year old performance car. Put your car on www.traderonline.com or try to sell it on ebay. There are always people looking for Cobras of all years. Trading it in might be the "easiest" thing to do, but you're going to take it in the shorts if you do.

Try and sell it to a private owner. you'll get more money, make someone happy, and not get raped. I mean heck, i'd give ya' $500 bucks for it sight unseen! :)

I would say get an offer from the dealer and try to sell it in the classifieds on here or in the Corral classifieds. Since that was the only year for that body style Cobra I'm sure there are many people out there that would love to buy it from you.

Agreed, it's all about supply & demand - the '93s are still a very sought after cobra. :D

i Know it takes more effort to sell it on your own but everyone is right. you will be able to sell it for more on your own and there HAS to be people looking for that year Cobra. Not everyone can pay a premium for a "garage queen" that has low miles. Your car represents a rare car at a more reasonable price. I would be willing to bet that Toyota would only give you about 6 grand for it. good luck.

sorry, couldnt resist... but yea, i agree with everyone else, there was a bullitt at a toyota dealership around me, and i was just curious as to see what they would give me for BOTH of my cars, they said 2,500 for my v6 and 4,500 for my cobra... for a 18,000 bullitt... i was like, sheesh they made it easy to laugh and walk right out the door... oh, just FYI when i bought my v6 they were asking 4,500 and i was like thats way too much, and i got up to walk out the door, and the salesman called me back in and said what would it take to sell it, i said 2,000 and i walked out with it, tax/title for 2K! Walk in the dealership with a checkbook or wad of cash in your pocket, make it obvious, and don't let them start off with their little tricks, worked for me!

The dealers will really bend you over on the trade in. I had the same thoughts a couple of years ago until they started throwing numbers around. All the sales guys out there checking out my car and drooling over it, & my cobra was worth the same to the dealership as a V6.. at least that was the load off bullsheiot the Sales Manager was trying to feed me.

If you were to sell it private party how much are you looking to get?? My Bestfriend is looking to buy a new toy at the end of the month.

that road is what they must have meant in the saying "it's heaven on earth". i love those types of roads. luckily we have highway 129 (deals gap) here in NC/TN. nice pics. i still remember hauling ass on the PCH and people pulling over for me. i never flashed my lights but i think they knew i wasn't sight seeing by the sound of my tires.
