hey, ive got a 1986 svo. the transmission is great except for second gear, and it really on grinds when you get on it and try to power shift. so i was wondering what would be the best way to fix this problem? should i just get a rebuild kit or a new/used tranny? and i know that it has the t-5 transmission, but i was looking around and saw t-5's in jeeps, camaros, and a few other cars. so is a t-5 a t-5 no matter what its in, or did they make different t-5's for different cars? and im also looking for a nice borla exhaust, if anybody knows a good site that i can find a cat-back for my car. thanks a lot guys!! :nice:

Sounds like your second get blocker ring is the problem. The only fix is to replace it.

T5s are not all created equal. You need one from a mid '80s to early '90s Mustang. Only the 2.3-specific transmissions are a drop-in for the SVO. The 5.0 units have a different input shaft. You could probably get a rebuild kit and instructional video for ~$150 and would be pretty lucky to get a used 2.3 T5 for that. Keep in mind that gear ratios were different between the years and vehicles. Someone else can probably refer you to a transmission interchange list.
