Well guys, I've decided I want to be a little different and turbo charge my 06 GT (automatic). I currently have 4.10's, CAI, and an offroad prochamber. I know I will have to get rid of the CAI and prochamber, but I just needed some help on which kit to go with. I think I've narrowed it down to 3, primarily due to prices. They are turbohorsepower.com's single turbo kit, hp performance stage 1 single turbo, or turbocharging.com's turbonetics single kit. All three seem to be very similar in price (around $4,500), but I wasn't sure the details and if any additional costs need to be figured in (other than dyno, which I will do too). Turbohorsepower's is $4,000, but an extra $500 for the intercooler. It has a 61 mm Garrett turbo, and for an extra $100 you can get a swappable cat, so inspections wouldn't be an issue. HP's seems like it has all components for the price, but it does seem to be offroad only (not a huge issue). And, the turbonetics kit will retain the factory cats, you just need to modify the h-pipe. So, with those 3 choices, what does everyone think? I was just wondering the pros and cons of each, and which one really is the best value for cost and quality. I appreciate all responses, especially those who have any of these kits installed. Thanks!
Sorry, that was turbochargers.com for the turbonetics kit. Here are the links: Turbo Horsepower - turbo kits, chassis, accessories 05-09 Mustang Single Turbo Turbonetics 2005-06 Ford Mustang Complete Turbo Kit - Turbochargers.com
Well I can say the Jim at THP makes a great kit and has great customer service. I love my TT kit and Jim's kits always perform at the top due the the excellent design. You really can't go wrong with any of the kits just pick the company you feel best dealing with. Earl
Did he send you a "streetable" tune to get you up and running so you could get to a dyno? I'm worried about doing the installation and then not having my car right away. It's my only car so after the weekend, I'm kind of going to need it for work. Also, how is the twin turbo with the 3.73's? I have 4.10's so I hope it's not going to be too much gear for a turbo...
The TT kit doesn't include a tune but the single kit does. I would use the included tune until you can get it somewhere for a custom tune. I run a 28 inch tire so the 3.73's work great. Your 4.10's aren't the best for a turbo but they will work ok and I wouldn't go to the expense of changing them. Earl
