Do either of those really work? I work at jiffy lube and my friends who work sware by them because they used the engine flush and he said the flush worked really well and made his car better, he could tell the difference. as for the TX-7, i'm not sure?! but it claims to make things better as well. Anyone try either or know if they work? Thanks
I'd like to know the answer to that also. I've gotten the engine flush done on another car of mine and it's going beond 200000 miles pretty well now.
No........ Myself personally....I don't belive in any of those "snake" oil's or so called cleaner's. Most of them are a gimmik more then anything.
I've done a "hot oil flush" on my mustang , its suppose to clean up the engine, restore power... blah blah. Anyways my car burns oil now , at 240,000kms on the odometer, it didnt burn oil before i did it though. I personally dont recommend these flushes
If you use high quality engine oil and change it on a regular basis there is no need for any sort of engine "flush".
If there is detergents in it Ive heard the hydro lifters will hold some of it. - I would not do it myself. I just change the oil every 2000 with high quality oil
Engine flushes can be both good and bad. It does work and I do them about once a year. It can work too well; the only thing you really need to worry about especailly with a sludgy engine is that it can break apart deposits and then they can clog the oil screen in the oil pickup. I used this machine once that really did it right. It's made by Bilstien (the shock company) so I doubt it's bs. You drain the oil and remove the filter and put an adapter on where the filter goes and another where the drain plug goes, then it pumps mineral spirits or something into where the oil filter goes and has vaccume drainer that goes in the oil drain plug. It fills the engine with quite a lot of fluid and then sucks it out. It pushes the fluid backwards through the screen to clean it too. Sure beats dropping the pan. It goes through several cycles. When I first saw it I was like but after I saw it work I was a changed man. Never did it to my car. It was at a Pepboys. I recomend it.
