Can anyone tell me what it might cost to have Saleen upgrade my 06 Saleen to the S/C'ed version? I would only be interested in them doing the S/C labor install so that I could keep the warranty on the car. I will buy the parts (as I have seen done by several others) and I will also buy the hood and spoiler and paint it myself. Just need the S/C install.

I would have to have the car shipped there, and back since I am on the East coast, but it might be worth it if the labor price was reasonable.

On the flip side, my dealer told me that Ford would still stand beside my basic engine warranty if I decided to install the S/C myself- something that would be no problem doing esp. since I have an ASE mechanic who is a great friend of mine.

You'll probably just need to call Carlos at Saleen or email him to get a quote.

My hunch is their rates combined with shipping your car would put it out of any reasonable ballpark. You could install it yourself, save the money, and mentally put that money you saved towards a "warranty voided" fund.

You don't need to ship your car to Saleen. Just go on to Saleen's website and find the dealer locator and type in your zip. This way you can find the closest authorized Ford dealer closest to you. Just get it in writing of course and have that Saleen dealer install the blower. Supposedly they will warranty it. Otherwise forget about Saleen in Irvine. Dotbomb and I are seeing that all of the 07 Saleen Mustangs so far are being manufactured in Troy, MI. Much closer to you anyway. The only warranty you care about is your powertrain. Any bodyshop with a good painter can fix you up with your hood and wing.

Good point Marcus. Let your fingers do the walking and make some calls. I know some dealerships won't install power adders while others will. Get a good reference from Saleen and you should be set with warranty in tact.

Note though that only the 435 HP base supercharger kit is carrying the warranty.

Well- that settles that, then. I am purchasing the whole kit, including the 475 upgrade.

It may be more fun to do it myself anyways.

Now- does anyone have any recommendations for discounted genuine Saleen parts?

Yes, buy from http://www.haneymotorsports.com. Casey provides excellent service and it is who I purchased my upgrade kit from. I know Marcus would recommend them as well.

Tell Casey Jeff and Marcus sent ya! :D

Also, if I may add to the pain your wallet will be feeling...

If you don't have the upgraded 14" brakes on your car already look into upgrading those along with adding the SC. You really need to stop.

I also strongly suggest the panhard bar and lower control arms. My car hooks the tires a lot better (no bounce or shimmy) on a hard launch and it takes corners A LOT better.

The LCA and Panhard are relatively cheap (couple hundred for parts).

You can source all these parts through Haney Motorsports as well.

Thanks for the info. The brakes are a given- but never did understand why Saleen didn't beef up all 4 brakes?

I tried to email HM several times about a "package price" on the parts I needed, but no one ever got back to me.

Maybe they don't do a lot of email stuff?

Call Casey up. Maybe email is less than reliable (spam filters etc).

I agree regarding the brakes, the stock rear brakes are an eye sore at the least.

Thanks for all the info, Dotbomb.

I am working on something for the rear calipers- maybe a "SALEEN" sticker cut out of metal based vinyl (hi-heat) or possibly even a stencil so that I can spray on the logo or something. I have a 15,000.00 CAD/Vinyl cutting machine, so I am trying to use it to dress up the funky rear calipers.

Cool, take pics if/when you get something. Have you taken a look at the 5 spoke wheels on the 2007's in person? If you think the back brake looks bad with our 7 spokes you have got to see it when paired up with the new 5 spokes. Ick.

You know Saleen bundles the blower and the 475 kit together now for a decent price. That way you don't need to deal with a flash twice. Also, Saleen will probably throw in the stock pulley's (take offs) and balancer since you can't run the Saleen underdrive pulleys with the blower.

All said I would email all of the ebay sellers of the blowers and get the best price and go the JDM route on the HP upgrade. Way better tune and more safe power.

When I SC'd my car, Saleen sold me the stock take-off pulleys for $38.00.

Yeah being on the east coast it may make more sense to go the JDM route, assuming you like big CAI's sitting in your engine bay. Though I guess people usually drive with their hoods closed

I missed out on the group buy that was offered on the Saleen S/C...it was a STEAL.

I've seen the JDM setup, but I don't like the big CAI thing. Just is ugly to me.

I imagine I could sell the Saleen under-drives here or on eBay for a decent price?

I will- if it turns out cool maybe we can all use it or something. Kinda like a "Stangnet" brotherhood. :D :SNSign:
