    Whats up guys,
I have a few questions, I'm guessing this is the right forum to ask them in so here it goes. I plan on buying a used mustang over the summer and I was wondering what I can do to give it a little more horsepower. Perhaps some kind of cold air intake or exhaust. I'm new to all this, but I'm willing to learn everything I can to bump up the HP. In general, about how far do you think I can get it up to? If you can explain in detail, that would be great :D

"AMD Athlon" < your obviously intelligent haha.
A cold air intake only gives maybe 5-8 hp in reality, looks good under the hood mostly.

Dual exhaust will really open it up good and get good flowing out, intake also deepens the tone too.

If you got $1000ish, 4.10 gears, tlok (Ford Racing Limited Slip Differential carrier), and an SCT or Diablo flashtuner. Probably have to get them installed unless you are a professional mechanic, because the shims and lash have to be adjusted within certian perameters. In the end, the gears is a great upgrade, no true hp gain, but you'll cut about half a second off the quarter mile time because it accelerates into the power band faster.

If you really want to make power, $4000 would get you an 11psi self contained procharger which doesn't require tapping the oil pan, or a good turbo kit with intercooler even. Other upgrades could be H/C/I, which is port and polished heads and intake with an aggressive cam, a good set is about $2000.

No idea what you just said, but I can learn :) 5k is probably the limit for me max 6k. Any chance I can get it to sound like a cobra? If yes, what do I have to do. Whats the stock HP on an v6 04 stang?

    EDIT: Thanks for those links!

193bhp (what the companies tell you, also thought of as horsepower at the crank), about 155-160 rwhp (what you get to the ground, rear wheel horsepower) is stock for an 04 auto.

Peronsally, with that much, I would say you could bolt an 11psi procharger ($4300 good kit, easier to put together than a turbo, plus it's self contained) or a turbo kit ($3500 plus I hear some good numbers with TMA's kits, just would need an intercooler and requires tapping the oil pan) on with exhaust and traction lock all with a good dyno tune, and be about $4500-5000 with a good 300+ rwhp, or about 350 bhp. Kinda kills your budget but hey, it's fast ;).

For exhaust, my dual exhaust is being done at a shop for $480 after taxes for mandrel bent with flowmasters. Sounds good, untrained ears will think it's a V8. Magnaflow and Flowmaster are 2 mufflers I hear sound good on a V6, but also look for something called Force mufflers. They are cheap but sound just as good. http://www.flopro.com/VForce.htm and the mustang is an Offset/Offset. I would go with 2.5" exhaust, loose alittle low-end torque, but gain it in the high end, plus with a supercharger, you need the 2.5".

Sound, I spent $200 on a nice 360w 2 10" subs with amp, works nice for me cause I just like the sound and quality, not the loudness. Tint I don't think is all that much. Heck those people make a killing =\. I tried to be a contract tinter for a dealership down the road. Radar detector (need one with over 300hp lol) could run $200 for a good one, then with the alarm, you'll probably be at your $6000 max, but you would be running 13 second quarter mile.

How big are these? Are there any shops in FL that would install this, or can I bring it to a regular Ford dealership? Would it be the bes tbet if I just order it online and have it shipped to my house or buy it directly from a shop?

I'm sure if you search around a little there are some speed shops near you. It would probally be cheaper to buy everything online and then have a shop install. You want to stay away from ford dealerships unless you might be worried about a warrenty or something, they would just charge you more for the same thing.
