Well, I just had the S-trim take a crap on me. The bearings are shot! No more serpentine system for me. Has anyone ever sent one back for a rebuild? I may just upgrade it to a T-trim while I am at it. It started today when I noticed alot of noise that normally wasn't there. Popped the hood and it was pretty evident what happened. I have had to tighten the belt several times to keep the belt from slipping. So, for Christmas, Santa will be bringing a nice set of 83 lbs injectors and a new blower!
I sent mine back but had to get a replacement one because the cases had "issues". If there is no problems with your cases they will rebuild the S-trim for I believe $375.00 with new bearings and seals. I traded mine in for a new S-trim and got $500.00 trade in value.
Scott. What George said but stay with the S-trim and straight cut gear. Otherwise it just wont be the same. Right? Whats an S351 with a quiet blower?
When I had my S-trim replaced I made sure they sold me a V-1 S-trim with Straight cut gears, I LOVE that sound!
Well, I checked with Vortech and the options I have didn't really leave me with alot of choices. 1- I can rebuild the S-trim with standard bearing $350 2- I can upgrade to a T-trim with heavy duty bearings for $700. 3- I can install heavy duty bearings in the S-trim for $780. You can guess what i am going to do. One thin I don't understand is why Vortech states a non-heavy duty can not be used with a cog system. The cog system should be easier on the bearings since you don't have to crank down on the belt thus, no load on the bearing. Seems like simple physics!
