    Update on the stang...

My bud picked up his Legend Lime over the weekend. I wish I could get him to post here at Stangnet but he doesnt like computers. Anyhow, I'm not the biggest fan on the Lime color but I guess it grows on you seeing it in person. I do like interior alot! We needed a makeover badly and we got it. The front is super aggressive but unfortunately IMO doesn't match the rest of the car. This car needs more scoops, and a better spoiler. But all-in-all, I like more than the previous gen.

Now, this is my first time riding in an 05' and I have nothing to say bad about the handling. Much better than my 04' GT. Fit and Finish is good, although a little too plasticy but it's to be expected. This is one nice ride.

Now comes the critical area where YES! I do judge a car on. So many others believe it's okay to just "get by" and "mod later" and "enjoy the car as it is". While I understand most people aren't like that, I for the most part am. Once again, I hate bringing up my old car but since I never owned or driven a Mach I have no other comparison to 300hp. After buying a 98' Firebird off the showroom floor and having power that made a girl literally **** IN HER PANTIES... I am all about NO EXCUSES now, no matter what the car. Soooo.... I have yet to drive his car but I can speak from the passenger's point of view. He pushed it hard through the first 3 gears and I was not forced back into my seat. In others words, smooth progressive power and not INSANE power. It feels strong in first and second gear, but once you get into 3rd it starts to fall on it's face just like my 04'. This car would take me off line line but would not pull from me. On another note: if I were to pull up my old Firebird when it was stock next to this car on an endless stretch of highway... in about 30 seconds the Mustang would appear in my rearview mirror as a little dot. Exaggeration? Maybe. But this is my opinion. 300hp? Maybe in a world where only Civics and Maximas existed.

The bottom line is that Ford did an excellent job with the new car. It will please most everybody in the market for a reasonably priced sports car. This car will appeal to just as many women as men too I believe. I would recommend to the drag racers looking to mod their cars themselves and run quick at the strip to hold off on this one. At least another year when they get the kinks out, and raise the power (which is unevitable). Everyone else that wants style, a new car, awesome suspension, and an amercan icon look no further!

I think you should actually DRIVE the car and then repost. Other than that, I enjoyed your objective commentary.

Find the girl that rode in your Firebird and have her ride in your friends car...that should tell you what you need to know.

    Nice review.

how come you said that the handling was better than your 04 but then you state you never got the chance to actually drive the car?? How can you compare one thing when you have not even driven it?

Good commentry, however flawed, the #'s alone we've been seeing from these cars show they will smoke an 04, tie or beat a mach, and hold it's own against an ls1, probably beat an lt1.

It looks like all the built in modern sophistication dampers out the "feel" that your older 04 and firebird has. Make no mistakes, I believe the car is a lot faster than it feels.
