I hope to install my GT bumpers next weekend 5 Nov. Im 2-3 more weekends away from figuring out how to do duals. Do I go "one legged" on the exhaust and leave the left side cutout empty? Do I hang the left side muffler so it at least looks like I have duals? Waiting to install the bumpers until I can do everything is not an option. I just spent $1000 on the bumpers, fogs, misc parts to do the install and Im not sitting around looking at them for 2-3 more weeks.
just make it a functional dual, looks wise it doesn't matter if it is a Y or an H-pipe. If you put a dummy muffler on the other side, only one side will smoke on cold days, it will look silly. It will also look silly with an exhaust opening with nothing there.
If you can get the hangers and a muffler for the left side, why can't you splurge a little more for a full dual set up? On the V6 tech forum, many members have gone dual for minimal cost with X and H pipes and having a shop fab some mandrel bended pipes. If it is absolutely impossible to go dual, I would wait to put a muffler on until it was functional. The look without the sound would be absurd, IMHO. Nothing wrong with "pimping your ride," but that is what stripes, louvers, ducktails, etc. are for, not mufflers. Like Alec said, a fake GT is lame.....
wait until you have everything, then jump in. Though I wish there were other kits out there than just the GT-look-alike kit. How often does a new car owner mod their car out to look like another stock trim of the same car for mucho dinero?
You guys dont get it. Im going to put duals on I just dont have all the parts to do so right now. Alec as far as your comment goes, a fake GT would be a non GT that was being passed off as one. Not so, dumbass.
You bought everything to make it look like a GT, short of the badges (I HOPE!!). I'd call that a fake GT. And if you're gonna put a non-functional exhaust on there (even for just a couple weeks), I'd even call that rice. We understand exactly what you're asking. I just don't think many of us like it.
YEa, I agree with above, just wait to get the exhaust done. Both your options are ricey...If it was me I would not have either opening with a pipe in it rather than a fake one. I believe we all understand what you are trying to do, but I swear if you put the badges on it, I will hunt you down and rip them off for youcrapola
I agree that all the choices are bad. Use of the terms ghetto and gay are also offensive in the way they are used.
Dumbass? I'm not the one asking things like is this "Gay" or "Ghetto" Lets see, "Do I hang the left side muffler so it at least looks like I have duals?" Now you tell me who is the dumbass.
I guess I didn't totally understand your position, so I picked that both would look gay. However, if you're going to make them both real working pipes (that CAN be done, can't it?) I think that's just fine. A guy at work did the same thing to his, and even though I know it's a V6 it still looks good. I know what it is, a V6 with duals, and IMHO there's nothing wrong with that.
if you only put on the muffler, there is nothing to secure the position of it. it will rattle around, and look misaligned most of the time.
what is more ghetto? ahh the magnetic black out for the rear if i where you, i would run to ebay and sell all those parts you just spent your hard earned funds on, save your pennies, return some bottles and buy a GT. Your never going to be happy and you will always be abused for having a GT wannabee.(unless you make it a V6 turbo monster). Parking lot pimping is cool if you have a 4 banger, but all that work to make a 4 banger look like a muscle car
Not true that he will never be happy with a modded V6 that is not a turbo monster. SCRMING is extremely happy with his V6 with bolt-ons. He is already running in the 13's. I have the Pony Package V6, which I love, and which I will slowly mod to tweak every bit of performance out of her. I will go dual next year, but am already planning on some well placed 4.0 badges. I am proud to have an American V6 that can hold its head up again, as are the majority of the V6 owners on Stangnet. And in a few years, if I can't beat you with the "tiny" 4.0L V6 that I have lovingly planned, cared for, and modified, I will go home, get my Shelby, and come looking for you....
? I guess I just don't understand why you'd get a V6 to start if you're interested enough in performance to make some significant mods. Why not start with the V8 and build from there? Is it to save money up front? Or to be different? Not knocking it, just don't get it.
This freakin' topic is REALLY starting to grate on me. Question on Exhaust set-up being Ghetto - yields Gay. Somehow that yielded should have got a GT. Which yielded penis/GT envy cries from the crowd...... Why does nearly every topic question like this end in V-6 bashing??? Arrrggghhhh.. It is like a continual repeat of a really bad game of "5 degrees" set in the film "Groundhog Day". I wish I could land an F-Bomb right now.
