OK, time for my first "what is it" post on my newly acquired 98 Cobra. I think I have a bad alternator bearing, but I would feel comfortable if someone would tell me that it isn't a bad waterpump. I plan to spend a lot of time learning these new (to me) mod motors, but I really don't want to jump in waterpump deep this soon. Thanks. Link to video of sound on youtube.
get a metal tipped stethescope and put it aginst the suspect parts. that should tell you wether it is a faulty alternator or water pump.
yep- you can also remove the belt and spin each component individually to be sure. Alt and h20 pumps make a decent noise when they are wiped out! GOOD LUCK
