My 94 4.6 T-Bird now has 165,000 miles and it is 100% beat. It burns about a quart every 750 miles. It's got some kind of horrible knock in the motor. It needs new shocks/struts on all 4 corners. The trans is extremely sloppy. It needs a new torque converter (it shakes the glove box open at high speeds when locking up!). The head liner is being help up with a mini dust pan, it looks like it has racing stripes where the paint is peeling off. Cruise control doesn't work. There is a huge banana-strawberry slurpee stain on the passenger side front floormat. The rotors are beginning to warp. You get the picture. LOL. I don't like small cars. I refuse to get one. I have about 7500-9000 to spend (parents are going to pay for half, so really I only have about 3500-4500). The above choices are what I'm pretty set on. Some people will probably think they're too old man (I'm 20). I think they're pretty damn cool. All have to be black or white because I think those two colors look the best when you tint the windows. All can be had in the price range I'm looking in, and they'll have ~80k on them. Help sway my decision.... Joe
Go for the cadillac young buck. Why? Just cause its a cadillac I thought you were older than 20? I'll be 25 in June. My DD is a 93 Saturn 5spd.
STS is Front Wheel Drive which is lame. Get the Lincoln, Rear wheel drive with some class, and a litle torque.
im gonna say grand cherokee just cuz they look awesome and you could always lift it and put in a nice little system
If you get a Jeep stay away from a limited or overland my buddy in denver is a servicewriter for a dealership there and the loaded ones are PITA's get a laredo with select trac less gizmos to go wrong.
I don't care about front and rear wheel drive. I actually would prefer front wheel a bit, especially since I need a car that will be able to get around in the snow. My T-Bird is WORSE than the Mustang! I don't want a POS, but if things do "go wrong", I'm not going to be in too much trouble. My Dad is a mechanic and gets huge discounts on OE parts. The most I'll be doing to any of the cars is putting in the 10W3 and 800 watt amp I have lying around and tinting the windows. Joe
My vote is for the Jeep. I drive a small car all day everyday (a focus ZX3) and although it is fun, I prefer being in a sport-ute, I LOVE my ford escape even though its on the relatively small side of SUV's.
As cool as an sts would be, I agree with Paul. Its nice to have a sport ute to drive around when you're not in the mustang. Its great for hauling stuff and cruising around with buddies in. I couldn't leave the 5.0L of course so I picked up a '98 Explorer in great condition with 68k on the clock for $6500. I also had a custom y-pipe made to join into a 3" Flowmaster. Get a lot of compliments on it. People aren't used to a healthy sounding exploder.
I would say go for a jeep dude, it's just a better overall vehicle for the reason you need a DD. Paul, I had a nice mazda tribute a few years ago, and that's what got me liking SUV's, I'd really like to pick up another one, but this time I'd stick with Ford and grab an escape. Really nice vehicles
Well, things have changed over the past 24 hours. I now have a 96 Nissan Maxima with a V-6 and a 5-speed. Mileage is 112,xxx. The best part is/was the price. FREE! My Dad worked on it at his garage and the owner pissed and moaned because his bill ended up being 1600 bucks for all the maintenance work that was needed. The guy offered up a deal that if the shop gave him 500 bucks, he would walk. My Dad cashed his paycheck right there and bought it for 5 bills. This thing flat out FLYS! I honestly think this thing would beat a 5.0 Mustang in stock form. Merging on highways is a blast. Does anyone have track numbers from any source? I couldn't find any. The car looks exactly like this one except it's a really dark green. It kind of looks black though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6400&item=4546337095&rd=1 I'm happy. Joe
