I have a few questions about which way I should go with my heads. I have a set of '69 C90E 351 W heads. I had those on my 302 before it the oil pump locked up. The heads are still good. I bought another motor which I was told has a 347 bottom end it, but like any man, I have my doubts. The stroker motor has a F cam in it now, and I will prob. keep that in, maybe go with a blower cam, being that eventually I will get a blower. I need advise on what to do in terms of heads. My intake is the RPM Perferomer upper and lower. TMOSS said that the intake is around 220-240 cfm, and that I need a head in that range. I don't have the money to go out and get a set of AFR or similar heads. My question is should I spend the money to get my 351 heads ports and stuffed with bigger valves, or should I find some GT-40 irons, or explorer heads, and do the same port and valve work to those? I want the car to run like a "rapped gorilla" and traction to be my only problem. I want to keep my intake, but what should I do for heads? I'm sure it would be best to get some aluminum heads, but that's not in the budget right now, or at least for a while. So what do I do? 351 and port them, or find some heads off an Explorer and port them? Thank you Stangnet, and sorry for the long post. Help a crippled stanger please.
my ported c9 heads went 12.00s all motor on my 331 and then 11.18 @123 on the bottle, so the head are not bad at all
i think the 351 heads are better than gt40's man. I dont know much specs on the gt40's nor much good results but ported windsors run great. I have them ported on my stroker and it RUNS and traction is an issue. I am switching someday (not b/c of the heads) to some stg2 cannies with TFS box. Sorry for the long post, to sum it up in 2 words---ported windsors
