I got a 2003 yamaha fx140, with 140 hp. It is one of the first 4 strokes and was one of the fastest then. Now seadoo has a supercharged one with 220hp I think. They are fun on lakes but really fun in the ocean.

You have to try catching air off the wake of a bigger boat that is fun, I have a few friends that I can borrow their skis and go out on lake erie. last time I went out there was a good wind creating 5-6 footers outside the breakwall!

I've owned wave runners. I would only go out into the ocean when the waves were very high. I like to fly.

Don't forget to put the plugs in before you put it in the water. My ex-wife sunk our Sea Doo that way. She drove to the lake and put it in. I showed up an hour later and told her I was going for a ride. When I got to the dock, there was just two handlebars above the water! The cool thing about 2 strokes is if the engine gets full of water, just pull the spark plugs out and hit the starter. Water shoots up twenty feet or so in the air. Once it quits, put the spark plugs back in and you're good to go. One thing though. We didn't think to drain the computer module after the ex-wife sank ours and it corroded over the winter and had to be replaced. Ouch! Mega bucks! In general, I tend to shy away from any type of boats because I spend too much money on cars as it is. Jet Ski's are fun though!

Whell, i paid 2,100 for my jetski...i got a pretty good deal in my mind...Im not rich by anymeans, but i like my toys...I also have a 02' Yamaha raptor.

Speaking of sinking, when i first bought my bike, everytime i would go out it would collect alot of water and wasen't pumping it out...but no biggie, so one day i went on a long ride in the ocean, and when i was about 20m away from my truck, i come off plane and the friggin thing sinks....like i just roll off it! The hole back end was under the water, just the front was floating due to the foam they put in it. It sucked, i had to be towed to another ramp...anyhow i open the seat and the WHOLE engine is underwater, the carbs everything....i couldent believe it, it also hydrolocked! so i pulled the plugs out, and it was shooting water like 30 feet up out of the holes!!! that sucked. Anyhow luckly 2 strokes have low compression, and it dident affect anything, i got it running later.
The whole stem of the problem was the bildge pump pickup was clogged!!

Here, i was out taking pics of my tt build, so i snapped one of the ski's. Mine is the yellow one, my brother rides the 750 purple/white one

But yeah guys i hear ya on jumping wakes....there is a jetdrive whale watch boat that goes through the harbor, and that damn thing throws off about 8' wakes.....thats fun to hit, and the Whale-huggers all like to see it.

God damn right it does. I'm an electrical engineer and most of the electricians I work with designing residential distribution and such make as much or more then I do.

Aren't you an electrician too? You've had a GT40 crate engine, PTK kit, 418 stroker, and now an '03 Cobra. Life's tough at the age of 22.

On topic, my GF has a couple sea doos, I don't really know much about them but hell yeah they are fun to bomb around in. Defiantely prefer the sit down ones to the stand up ones. I like snowmobiles better though!
