I've been looking (maybe not in the right spot) for the dyno results of a stock 03. What's it got for HP and RWHP...for real. Not the ford specs. I know they say 390, but I hear people saying that Ford underrated them for insurance reasons. Anyone got them?
I've seen stock 03/04's dyno between 355 rwhp and 370 rwhp. And I mean BONE stock, down to the paper filter.
Why do I always see Cobra spelled as Corbra? Anyway, 370-380 is about right. I dynoed 400 with a steeda air filter and borla stinger exhaust. Not stock, but close enough.
People get so excited when they type COBRA that they just forget how to spell. I'm sure some even wet themselves.
That 390/390 figure quoted from Ford is Flywheel horsepower. You have to figure in about 12-15% drive train loss based on our T56/IRS. U.M.
my stock 03 dynoed 377/369. Thats bone stock on a dynojet. dont look at the sig. I put the snorkle back in since taking it out made throttle response a little sluggidh
Divide the Dynojet peak by .85 to get the crank HP. A 360 rwhp SAE car makes 360/.85=423 at the crank. There are a lot of bone stock 03/04 Cobras making 430-440 at the crank. I'd say Ford under rated it. This is the main reason why it's hard to believe some of the kill stories when a 280-300 rwhp F-Body walks a bone stock 03/04 Cobra excluding driver errors.
All of the 03 Cobra's I have baselined have been 637rwhp on a loaded dyno, the 04's have been 363rwhp.
"All of the 03 Cobra's I have baselined have been 637rwhp on a loaded dyno, the 04's have been 363rwhp." Do you mean 367rwhp? I started laughing when I saw that, I know ford underrated them but 637 at the wheels. lol
