i dont know if this is a dumb question or not but, i am getting a 91 lx an i plan to do the basic bolt ons. i want to put in a b-303 cam, gt-40 explorer heads, a cobra intake,24lb injectors,an mass air. the car already has full exhaust. do you think putting this cam in the car will cause alot of problems without getting it tuned? i plan to get it tuned down the road when i get a vortech. this is going to be my budget race car daily driver. thanks
nah, you shouldnt have any problems, just make sure u get the timing and fuel pressure dialed in and you should be good to go. No worries, the car is mass air equiped already, so its no difference, if it wernt mass aired, then thatd be a different story
installed a similar set up last night should have it up and running tonight or tomorrow , I will post results , probably depends on what MAF you are running and how good its calibrated for the injector swap ....
93 cobra computer will help, they are already calibrated for a 70mm mass air and the 24# injectors that u want. you can buy it as a kit with the computer, injectors, and mass air, or u can try to find somebody selling a 93 cobra computer. The kit is $550 tho
im worried i might have problems adjusting the idle with that cam, do you think i will even have to? or should it idle fine when started?
i would do that but i plan on gettin a vortech in the near future and when i do i will get it tuned by a shop an get a custom chip burned so my stock computer will be fine after that, im gonna try to find some used 24lb injectors an mass air or maybe i will buy the mass air new, but idk what kind to buy, i always hear about people having problems with them.
with stock computer it might sputter and stall if it is too low and u turn on the A/C or something. Other than that, it should be ok, B is a pretty mild cam.
i dont even know why im worrying, if it runs like chit then ill just get it tuned but ill save alot of money doing all the work myself like i plan to do, never did heads or cam before but i guess im gonna learn how to, my dad has done it before an my uncle to so they will help. hopefully it wont be that hard.
The reason people have so many problems with new mass air meters is because what companies do is trick the stock computer into thinking the tps input voltage is lower than it really is, so it can calibrate with the injectors that came with it. The stock computer is set for 19# injectors and 55mm mass air. This sometimes isnt a problem, but in most cases it causes bad driveability problems from spark advance and timing being all screwed up. I would research THOROUGHLY before u chose which mass air company/size to go with.
