Hello,
I apologize up front for the long whinded thread
I just picked up an 02 GT this month after selling my 94 GT last year. It's bone stock with 30,000 miles. My first mod;s this past week were the Ford PRO 5.0 shifter and the BBK X-O/R midpipe. My headers and catback are still stock. My reasoning behind the BBK X pipe is because I had one on my 94 GT along with Flowmasters catback, stock headers and loved the sound of it (not sure which series, they were on the car when purchased).
Heres my dillema. A)The install did not go well because Mustang Unlimited gave me a package of MIL eliminators that were 2 of the same adapters. I didnt relaize this until the pipe was on the car. I couldnt plug in my 02's from the pipe to the car because the wires were wayyyyy to short. So I wrapped them in tinfoil and a plastic baggy until today, I didnt want debris and crap getting in them, and it was for a small period of time. The 02's up front are extremely taught and I had to buy extensions today when I swapped out the MIL eliminitors. Everything just seems to not fit right. Is it possible they gave my the wrong X-Pipe and it barely fits? I'm taking it off the car tomm to see if there is a part number on it to distinguish. B)IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!!!! It sounds like something is vibrating somewhere, almost like a tin can or a rice burner. It's only when I jump on the gas. If I slowly step on it, it sounds great (to me). I was wondering if it could be the stock mufflers? I heard some say that baffled only goes well with some mid pipes and straight thru pipes go well with others? Also, this may sound ignorant, but what would be the difference between a BBK, UPR, Steeda, Borla, etc.. O/R X-pipe in regards to sound? Its metal, its an X and its uncatted right? I know some are stainless steel and some come in 2 or 3 pieces for easier install...... but do they really sounds different and if so why? I know in my 94 GT it was a 5.0 and this is a 4.6. So maybe if I setup my exhaust on this GT the same way it was on my 94 (Stock Headers, BBK X-O/R, Flowmasters catback) it would sounds about the same?
And yes, I know most people HATE BBK in general
If I left any info out that may help, pls let me know. Sorry again for all the reading.
